I'm just learning how to embroider. How many stands of floss should be used for the bullion stitch?
@BellaSavoy19 күн бұрын
Hi! I would recommend starting with 6 strands which is what I used in the video and when you wrap it around the needle don't wrap it too tightly (or too loose for that matter) or it'll be difficult to pull the needle through. It also helps if the eye of the needle is tapered. Some needles have a bulbous eye and that can cause issues. Hope that helps! Good luck 🙂

This is so beautiful! I now want to try both watercolours (my main art medium) and gouache on cotton canvas tote bag for my mum's present. Do you set the colour by using an iron or heat, or is there a better way for gouache/watercolour on fabric?
@BellaSavoyАй бұрын
Thank you! I simply paint right on the fabric. I like gouache more than I do watercolor. It has more pigment so your colors look brighter and cleaner, especially since you don't need to use much water. No need to iron or heat🙂

@@BellaSavoy Is it ok to iron over the finished painting to set it if I'm painting a n art design on a cotton tote bag? Painting on the fabric has a much more organic and rustic feel which I love. I can't believe I haven't dared to try this, considering when we use watercolour we paint on paper made from cotton fibers! Big face palm to me!

Hello! I haven't tried ironing it but I think if there's any concern you can place a paper towel on top of the painting and iron it that way. 🙂

Does that say 5 strand on each stitch? It's a little hard to see
@BellaSavoy5 ай бұрын
Hello, they're all 6 strands, except for the flower stems and thorns (which are 4 strands). I'll make a note to make the text more visible in the future ☺️

I love that you show a freestyle shape! Patterns have various shapes so it's super helpful. Great tutorial!
Did you use the same holes A and B to complete the stitch? I am using 14 count Aida.
@BellaSavoy6 ай бұрын
You can use the same holes if you'd like, but you don't absolutely have to as long as you're close. Here's a link to my blog post which has close up photos: www.bellasavoy.com/blogs/stitch-tutorials/bullion-stitch-tutorial. I hope that helps! 🩷
