If my ear is right, you’re playing the -pl- of tri-pl-ets (but the triplets are actually dotted quarters at the original tempo). Were there people on the other beats in your same pod, or were they also on the other side of the field? Either way, I’ve always wondered what exactly was going on in those 2 bars that made them dirty. Now I see that they were asking all 80 of you to split those triplets across like 40 yards on instruments you don’t play. Nuts.

Matt Harloff is the best DCI band director (or whatever job he has at Carolina Crown). He hears perfection in the band, and he knows the potential of the band, and then he brings it out during the season.
