Last production runs of Out of this World from spot 2B4.
My camera died before I could get our last run-through in Dayton so I had to splice together our last production runs from finals day.
Note, I had a pretty bad cut on my thumb so I had to cut the clove to let it breathe and anyone who rehearses in gloves know they can get a little gross.

He's using the Yamaha YBH-301M Marching Baritone. In the video though you can also see the Yamaha 202 Marching Euphoniums, which are bigger and have a richer more euphonium tone.

6:10 To 6:16 holy mother of god no wonder this was never perfect on the field… Are those bell tones split within the pods, or across different ones? If my ear is right, you’re playing the -pl- of tri-pl-ets (but the triplets are actually dotted quarters at the original tempo). Were there people on the other beats in your same pod, or were they also on the other side of the field? Either way, I’ve always wondered what exactly was going on in those 2 bars that made them dirty. Now I see that they were asking all 80 of you to split those triplets across like 40 yards on instruments you don’t play. Nuts.

the mic pics up the wind and the basses a TON but more basses than wind. like during the battery feature after the trumpet feature, you were in the backfield and the basses were on the front sidelines and you could hear them crystal clear lmao

I can double tongue, but not quite get triple tonguing down yet. Would the staff overlook me if I can't triple tongue? I would be more than able to learn how to at the camps and between camps before the summer. I'm thinking about auditioning for the 2016 season, so I thought I asked.
@mrequena1408
@mrequena1408 9 жыл бұрын
Kyle Hopkins When I first auditioned for 2013 I didn't know how to do either. One camp in February the staff was critiquing my audition and said my triple tonguing could use some work and I told them I didn't know how to in November. The staff want to see you improve each camp so do not let anything make you feel you are not good enough. As for auditioning you should, I'm sure many people can disagree with me and that is their opinion but this is the greatest brassline in DCI and it would be a mistake not trying out.

+Michael Requena Wish I would've followed thus advice a few years ago. But seems too late now, been a year since I last picked up a euphonium or baritone. Not sure what I want to do. I love music, but idk.

We've all been there a few times. As demanding as the shows are these days, it's surprising you don't hear more of it in the stands. Nice that it blends in and gets covered up on the whole/ensemble.

I just have one more question if you audition and are offered a horn spot can you decline. I was thinking of doing that my junior or senior year to see where I stand between other people.
@mrequena1408
@mrequena1408 9 жыл бұрын
Robert Sherbert yes you can decline but I don't see why you would. Marching here was one of the best decisions of my life and I wish I could have done it sooner.

If you play the trombone but want to audition can play the trombone for a solo and the audition packet on baritone?
@mrequena1408
@mrequena1408 9 жыл бұрын
Robert Sherbert yes you can audition on the trombone but you will need a baritone to go through the camp. I would recommend having an audition ready on trombone but also practice the crap out of baritone and if you feel comfortable, take the audition on baritone and tell the staff you are primarily a trombonist.
