Why people are riding xc bikes instead of gravel?
@teacherguy50842 күн бұрын
Kinda ridiculous to see the motorcycles with filmers riding 10 feet in front of a rider who is obviously benefitting from drafting the motorcycle. Do we really need to go the way of Europe, and then some? What's next, team riding? I think the individual effort aspects of gravel riding make it more engaging than road cycling, which tends to involve who is the best at drafting.

Great work you're doing. Meanwhile we'll still have to read comments of people complaining about the coverage unfortunately... People think there's 37 helicopters flying around to cover every square inch of the race.

I can't express enough how much I appreciate the coverage you guys do. From "Call of a Life Time", to the highlights, to the IG coverage, it's all great, and very much appreciated. Thanks team!

GCN just did a video on how the tour de France (and other televised cycling events) are broadcasted live, and it was eye opening to how complex and EXPENSIVE the logistics are. Multiple helicopters, multiple airplanes, moving ground satellites. Lifetime is doing a great job with what they have to bring us the coverage and videos they are putting out! Thank you for the hard work!

cool event, but its kind of annoying that the only official highlights video is over an hour long... i want the highlights of the race, not a bunch of interviews. This video is more of a documentary than anything, which is cool, dont get me wrong, but you labeled it "Race Highlights", which this is not...

Does anyone know - Jordan Schleck, any relation to Frank or Andy? And Finn Gullickson - weren’t there a couple of Gullicksons who raced pro mountain bikes back in the day?
@LifeTimeGrandPrixАй бұрын
Good questions - Jordan is not related to the Luxembourg Schlecks. But you're right, there were two Gullicksons, both racing Pro MTB in the NORBA days. Marc followed that with multiple CX National Championships before coaching the US National Team for many years.

With little exposure to gravel racing, I loved getting to learn about this epic race (Unbound is run in Kansas, who knew?). And it was cool seeing some top riders from the European pro peloton. Unfortunately, just like the Netflix TdF series, the target market is not necessarily cycling fans, let alone us hard core fans. This was over produced with too much fluff for a fan to enjoy for a one hour video. It felt like a really long trailer. There was little context for the race - the break got caught? When did that happen? So on one hand it was dumbed down for new viewers but then the announcer only referred to Keegan Swenson as Keegan. Who’s he? … oh he’s the guy leading the series. In summary, now that I got the low down on the race it is unlikely I will watch this type of coverage next year.

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback and we hope you'll tune in for more of our events in the future. As someone who's also in the sport for a long time and consider myself a 'hard core fan', it does help to remember that not everyone knows the sport inside and out. We're always trying to improve the experience for participants at our races and for the fans watching from home - hang in there and I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

bike racing could be THE most awesome sporting contests ever... but there`s always the likelihood that with sponsorship..comes the involvement of pharma/blood doping/epo... elephant in the room, and the corruption and stifling of any reliable genuine regulation and testing of athletes, money greed and winning at any cost even the UCI have a price for distraction.....
