It is a fantastic shot, but doesn't the drone negatively affect the riders that are behind it? This is a sport of marginal gains, and I think I would be pretty pissed if I had to sprint through a drone-induced headwind at the end of a 9-hour race. If the drone is off to the side, or flies a little higher and zooms in, we'd get a similar shot with much less disprution for the riders.

Constructive criticism: I want to see the race. I specifically don't want to see the commentators. The presentation style of this and the other Life Time Grand Prix videos is very much a presentation of an epic event, but I feel like frequently the race suffers because of it. This is the best place to watch the race and the video is only an hour long. If we remove all the introductions, histories, interviews, etc, etc, we're down to less than 40 minutes. That's only 40 short minutes for a 200 mile gravel race. The strategies, attacks, the unfolding story of the day is getting lost in the priorities. I think your audience is dramatically more knowledgeable about cycling and racing than you are giving them credit for. The American NBC style Olympic coverage that needs to cater to people who have no idea what's going on is less important, IMHO, than making sure the race stands front and center above the fanfare. I still appreciate this more than I can say, but I've got to ask for what I want or nobody will know ;-)

Production has improved year by year. Covering 2 separate 200 miles races at the same time is not easy. Some comments here say they only wanna see racing and don’t care about personalities… but that’s what’s different about gravel, people matter. Keegan Swenson and SGV not interviewed again! 2nd race in a row. Is something going on? They are the king and queen of the series and yet they are never featured…real weird
@hughbike3 ай бұрын
I was perplexed by this after Fuego XL for sure, but have no insight as to their absence. Were they approached for interviews but declined? Although the relationship is symbiotic between the top athletes and Lifetime, the $300k prize money is peanuts. I can't help but thinkthis has something to do with it. But as for this recap specifically, it may be due to their public comments about LTGP after the latter announced a 'no rule change' re: women drafting men last month. SGV and Keegan were the center of an IG thread expressing frustration at this decision. There was some chiding as well, implying the promoter could afford the means to promote the race itself but not to ensure the racing was fair for the athletes. The 7 LTGP events all have separate starts this year, to Lifetime's credit. In this instance it resulted in some fantastic racing. The series is a global phenomenon, without argument. Inclusion in the series is highly coveted. My guess is that it is very profitable for Lifetime. Surely at minimum Keegan, SGV and many others deserve a larger chunk of the pie. Do any of the LTGP athletes get appearance money, for example?
@philiptarry7023 ай бұрын
Thanks for that background. It’s certainly becoming noticeable. I would have thought Keegan and Sofia “owe” the promoters some time to support these films
@jonpoon38963 ай бұрын
SGV has a win or nothing type of attitude. Doesn’t really show any interest in anything outside the race itself. Last year, she got 2nd but didn’t go to the award ceremony the next day
