Nice to hear and see how some of these rhythm sounds are done. Is this similar to Big River by Johnny Cash. I have never decided if it was 7th fret capo or a Nashville tuned acoustic in the 2nd track.

Thanks. Always a capo’d guitar on Buckaroos never a Nashville tuned guitar

@JasonLoughlinMusic it's nice how it allows that dominant 5 chord be less overwhelming. Sometimes with one track, hitting that dominant gets a little stronger than I like, but with the 2 layers, it's strong enough without being so dominant

But Yup! AB on E9 steel.... I think this cemented that my next video is going to be to play these phrases/licks on the guitar and then play then on the steel to show how the guitar phrases (usually) came from the steel and i'm sure vice-versa... you have finally motivate me to do that one!
@JoshYenneКүн бұрын
You might say this and probably do... :-) "Super imposing the sub-dominant" or "Suspending the chord" 6... half dozen... depending on your point of view. 🙂

It's not a happy meal sunburst... It's known as a clownburst. I do like it a bit better on this instrument than when Gibson does this kind of thing on a Les Paul.

a couple more questions... I do hear the XTC influences so I can listen to them as well as the Byrds. Do you often play your Ric these days and in what capacity? And does yours have the lacquer fretboard or did you have that removed? Mine is a brand new 1993+. It has 3 pickups and wider fretboard. Any thoughts on that compared with your model?

Hi Jason I just subscribed and love all your content. The country stuff is so point. You are a great player. I recently got into 12 string Ric playing and this little tune of yours is working wonders. Do you have anything more for 12 string?
@JasonLoughlinMusic5 күн бұрын
Not in the form of lessons. Unfortunately not a lot of folks play electric 12s so it's a very limited audience. I might do a short video in the future.

@@JasonLoughlinMusic Sorry but I have so many questions. What is the best way to connect? Should we do a private lesson? Anyway, I'm curious about how you always get such a beautiful clear tone out of your guitars. It's so good. Is that the way your interface works? I know it's mostly your playing technique but if you have any tips about getting that Tele sound and the Ric sound I'd love to hear it. I have a Boss GT1000 multi effects processor, a boss RC 600 looper, and a JBX Janglebox compressoion sustain pedal that is highly recommended for Byrds Ric sound. I know you changed pickups, was that really necessary? Have you used any of these pieces I have and do you have any advice? I look forward to studying with you Jason.

At 4:07, why did you switch position up the neck? Playing the E shape doesn't require that, does it?

Hey brother, huge fan. You can't "add" high end on a passive guitar, technically. You can only not cut it. No battery, not active.
@JasonLoughlinMusic7 күн бұрын
Gotcha. So what do you think the reason would be why so many techs have told me you're not at a true '0" on these pots until you lower it to about 7 or 8?
@jaycoover6 күн бұрын
@@JasonLoughlinMusic Not sure, maybe the passive pickups and tone caps are sort of "tuned" to be detente at 7 or 8. Just words...you're not confusing anyone. What do you like for replacement tele single coils? I'm looking for an upgrade. I like your tone.

Hey a great solo to tech would be Albert Lee s solo for further on up the road from Eric Clapton live album. Just one night. It is a really cool country blues shuffle in g. Been trying to figure out but dont have the equivalent to slow down solo. It connects all the penatonic scales horizontal and has some really cool open strings licks. Please please please teach it its a great solo not toocrazy technocally but tasty as hell😊

Thanks for these vids. I’ve learned more about country guitar in the last two days than in my whole time playing. The Pedal steel licks are great I know nothing about theory but have picked them up by ear and slowing down the video. Class.
