Thank you! This is really great, laid out so clearly. I played pedal steel as a young man, and after a long hiatus picked up electric guitar. The last few years I’ve been playing classic rock, but I’m having an opportunity to do some country- I’ve had some of these licks in my head, but haven’t known how to get them through my fingers to the guitar. The James Burton feel is super, and your tone is perfect. Thanks!

On the first lick, how do you keep from banging/catching the D string when you bend the G string up a full tone? I know I should be palm muting with my right hand, but on the left ring finger do you push it under the D string, or over the D string, or something else?

Hey Jason, I own your true fire country bends, but i like this better. Any chance of making a full pedal steel ciuntry bend course? You are the best I have found for explaining country guitar concepts.

Jason I'm thinking about learning to read standard notation, I've been dabbling with classical guitar for fun, but I'm wondering if it can be of any benefit for an electric player? Or is it better to spend my time learning other things?
@JasonLoughlinMusicАй бұрын
Learning more is always a good thing. Knowing how to read is a great tool for understanding music
@atticusfinch6038Ай бұрын
@@JasonLoughlinMusic good. this was my instinct on the matter, but I know a lot of instructors on KZbin dismiss it entirely, but I think im especially someone who would benefit from it, because it will add another dimension of of understanding when I think of music. thanks for your response and everything you do for us!
@JasonLoughlinMusicАй бұрын
@@atticusfinch6038 there’s a slew of KZbin guitarist that don’t know how to read it all so they’re not even aware of the benefits of being a good reader not to mention the slew of KZbin guitar players that never really work as professional guitar players. Playing a few times a month and having a KZbin channel is not a professional guitar player in my opinion. Learn from the musicians that actually do this for a living and you actually get hired.
@atticusfinch6038Ай бұрын
@JasonLoughlinMusic I had a feeling this was the case, some of the big youtube channels in so many words viewed it as a "waste of time" referring to their own preference not necessarily saying it's a waste of time for everyone, but still that reinforces a belief in the community watching the channel. And yes, how can you accurately gauge the value of a skill if you don't have the skill yourself? Some of them that do say they can read music, I know it comes in varying levels of competence. Picking through melodies opposed having a firm grasp of seeing the music as full sentences and statements and patterns is a different level of understanding, so thank you, I'm going to stick with it!
