Hello, is a race car mechanic the same as an automotive mechanic in terms of education and how they fix and work on vehicles? But, racing mechanics being more geared to super vehicles and high performance engines? Like, do they do the same work? Can a race car mechanic do the same work as an automotive mechanic (gas mechanic and diesel mechanic) and work on auto vehicles? Because I am going to attend an institute here in my city and they offer race car mechanic, which I am greatly interested in, and automotive mechanics, diesel mechanics and industrial welding. thanx!

I drove hotlaps in this car, not sure it was 100% this car but I call it a car because it only got to 180kmh. I drove it as hard as instructed plus some and was and am still very disappointed but happy I experienced the track it's self. I'm sorry but my true feedback. I later got a VE sports wagon again a crappy STOCK v6 and wondered about speed compared to a "v8 race car" 217kmh in under 400m with a 60kmh rolling start. (track) I overtook everyone that day and still till this day am disappointed. Apon further watching, the hotlaps version is a stripped down stock v8 with the dashboard still installed and I bet limiter too seeing I couldn't get over 180kph!. What a load of rubbish and time that was as an 18yo wanting to get into the sports.

@@danielblizzard2370 I guess that's what happens when the government gets it's hand on the sport! It was defended and this was the only way they made money for events at that time. Be glad America still has its freedom. I hear it's going down the same path.

Great, great video breakdown. I am always interested in the root cause analysis of engine failures because it seems like sometimes "the more I know, the less I know". Thank you for sharing. I'm curious - when Rick reported the engine felt like it "was running on four cylinders", why did you rule out it being a fuel issue? Aren't there two fuel rails, therefore potentially meaning one fuel rail was blocked or stopped delivering? BTW, I am asking this at 01:18 into the video, so I'll continue.

05:42 Classic point in why these cars have become so expensive. machining a door hinge out of a block of aluminium?! If the cars still had a shell, the factory door hinges would work and they are probably 20 bucks each.

That was a bit painful, we don't need to see you talk (or the side of the car), we need to see the track (forward looking camera) with your verbals. So I got almost nothing out of that.

Shit I am Old. I remember when they both came into Supercars. Both Rick and Todd are genuine guys, but I loved their attitude on track, hard but fair (Well most times!..lol) It's been great watching them grow Kelly Racing into a very good team, and Todd has put a lot of hard work into it. Good luck in the Future guys, but at least you will still be behind the scenes.

Best wishes for the future Kelly family. You have been a major part of Australian motor racing for a good many years and have taken on your own way of doing it with different manufacturers and have had to be innovative to make a race car from the very beginnings. Thanks for your involvement.

What a heartfelt and deserving acknowledgement from everyone in the team. Both Todd and Rick are a credit their parents in the way they've conducted themselves and the achievements they've had along their journey. They're just a couple of genuinely nice country boys with good hearts and values and it shows. Most of us know that the journey to succeed in Supercars is tough and very much dependent on financial resources. I 'm sure that having to develop the Nissan and then the Mustang in COVID times hasn't been the easy road either and no doubt quite stressful. They've done it though and have a very strong foundation for the Groves to build on. Being deeply involved in any business and especially motorsport is taxing but they've done themselves proud and now it's time to hand over the batten to someone else. Best wishes Todd and Rick.
