Seems like a lovely camper!.. A question: When the kitchen and fridge are open and one is preparing to close up for the night, does the camper close to be fully mozzie-proof at night and obviously fly-proof during the day? Also, do you have showrooms in Adelaide. And, where can I get updated prices? Thanks
@kerfton
@kerfton 3 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. Yes. Its hard to see from the camera angle, but the canvas is attached to the rear of the kitchen and fridge carrier and swings out with them sealing against the floor. The door zips down and the bottom edge seals to the floor with magnets keeping the bugs out. So no Adelaide showroom, all sales are from Melbourne. Contact us via the website for pricing.

How long to put up the awning / Annex? Also, what about legs? (It isn't just on trailer wheels and jockey wheel is it!?)
@kerfton
@kerfton 3 ай бұрын
Awning roof zips on to the rear very quickly, but then it requires 3 poles and ropes which can take some time depending on the ground.
@kerfton
@kerfton 3 ай бұрын
Camper was designed to be stable without using the stabilizer legs. So there is no need to put them down. Yes, its only on the wheels and jockey wheel in the video and I sometimes setup like this for a quick overnight stop. But you can also use the stabilisers, which are the swing down and wind type. They help prevent it rocking around.

@@kerfton Can you enclose the awning and does it come with a skirt, to stop drafts from under the trailer? Thanks
@kerfton
@kerfton 3 ай бұрын
@@DougieLAwning roof and side walls only. The side walls can be used vertically down (to keep the wind out), or out at about 45 degrees to let the breeze through. There is no rear wall or draft skirt. We used to have an enclosed annex in the pricelist. But we never got any orders and so its no longer an option. After people see how big the internal living space is the need for another enclosed external space seems to disappear. Although I'm sure not all will have the same opinion.

It can, but its so quick to attach there is no real benefit.

How do you pack this up in the rain without the inside getting wet?
@kerfton
@kerfton 6 ай бұрын
The main area of concern for rain is the end of the main bed which is normally exposed during a packup. However if the canvas rear door is half closed before a packup the bed is protected. Its a bit harder packup with door half closed, but not too bad. Other areas are not too exposed, provided its not bucketing down. If someones is really concerned about a wet packup, then I recommend carrying a thin plastic sheet to place over the bed first. Although I dont bother with this and have never had issues.

How does pack down go in the rain? Will rain pool in the canvas over the side pods? Is there a way to protect the double mattress from getting wet?
@kerfton
@kerfton 8 ай бұрын
Only the dry side of the canvas touches the bedding, so normally wont be an issue. However, if its really sodden wet, moisture can wick through canvas and could result in damp bedding. If your worried about this I recommend carrying a thin plastic painters drop sheet to place over the bedding when needed. Although I don't do this to deliberately find out how bad it can get, but am yet to have an issue (although maybe I just haven't had bad enough conditions yet).

Any plans of selling this in USA? What's the gross weight of this rig?
@kerfton
@kerfton 8 ай бұрын
Absolutely. We are currently working on bringing it to the USA. Tare weight is around one tonne, depending on selected options and the unladen ball weight is 100kg. Aggregate trailer mass is 1.6 tonnes, making it a relatively easy load to tow.

I'm not in Australia, but I have been following your channel as I find your trailer quite impressive and innovative. The ease of how you put the fridge and kitchen unit away being part of it. Also, as demonstrated in this video, the small, but well thought out useful things. Such as using the pole bag as a rain flap for the rear when leaving the trailer at camp. Very clever and a 'small thing' that can save a very big hassle of the potential of having a water-logged trailer in an extreme downpour.

Kids pods are rated for 100kg each. Camper tare is about 1150kg (fully optioned) and ATM is 1600kg. So leaves around 350kg for payload.

I am quite impressed by the simplicity of this set-up design. 80% is done within the trailer, which is helpful when setting up in inclement weather. Regarding the main tent on the trailer, I think that your metal pole set-up is the most appropriate method. I don't know about your trailer awning (or even if there is one), but typically in Europe, it is the awning portion (especially when fully enclosed) that takes a lot of time and is a huge faff to set-up. This is where I think that the attachment of air-beam/air-pole awnings are the way to go. No extra poles, simply zip onto the main part/trailer and let a dedicated electric pump do the rest.
