Even Cordite was used as propellant for the heavy radioactive metal "projectile" in Little Bomb nuke, the one that explode in Hiroshima. The kinetic energy caused by the expanding gas is sufficiently strong enough to have enough momentum to propel the nuclear material being shaped as kind of bullet then impacted to another nuclear material, triggering fission reaction.

Interesting. Thanks but the real performance is when under pressure. BTW Cordite has reputation for being the highest burning temp powder hence most detrimental to barrel life. Cheers

Cordite is smokeless powder. The chemical composition is practically identical.

Interestingly Sherman and British crusader tanks of what I read thus far, had catastrophic burnings within the tank due to stored cordite in their ammunition. Explains a lot now, most though it was due to the fuel tanks being hit, but no the flammable cordite made the tanks burn up far more than fuel tanks or pumps hit

Black powder is an explosive whereas cordite and smokeless powders are propellants which accounts for the variance in burn rates

The purpose of the wadding is to make sure that the cordite doesn't chemically react with the metal of the bullet. This can form metallic crystals that make the round very unstable.

how did you remove the flywheel?
@stimpsonjcat67 Жыл бұрын
Plain ole gear puller. I did upgrade the bolts I used for going through the flywheel holes. The flywheel has threaded holes IIRC. But they can be pretty stuck, so I start tapping on them with a soft hammer as soon as I get plenty of tension on the puller.

@@32srt32 be sure to make notes about how many washers are under each engine mount. Those washers are how the engine gets aligned to the pump shaft. The closer that alignment is, the less wear the rubber flex coupling will see.

7.62x25 is such an interesting round for a PCC . I really wonder why there are no modern PCCs in that caliber. But now the 5.7x28 took up so much that 7,62x25 is quite obsolete now.
@LRRPFco52 Жыл бұрын
People got more and more dumbed-down over the years. There was a guy who made a sick monolithic MP5 with drop-in quick-change barrels and a universal mag well that took UMP mags. One of the options was 7.62x25, which turned the MP5 into a legitimate blaster with 200yd effective range.

Great work man! Can you buy chance do a l1a1 Canadian sporter plug? It’s a tad different then the one you worked on here.
@stimpsonjcat67 Жыл бұрын
The inch plugs are different critters for sure. I feel the Brits made everything more complicated on the FAL...although I do like the mag release. I do Inch plug mods, but it's a bit tricky. Basically, I weld over the cutout, grind it out to what I think approximates the 5/64" hole in the metrics, or really just shy of that, and then I send a small round file along for the owner to tweak the cut with if necessary.

I used to find heaps of 303 in the chicken coop as a kid. Often half rotten shells, the bullet, wad and often neck missing, cordite sticking out. Once watched the chickens pick out the cordite from a shell. There used to be a farmhouse turned German quarters on our land. In a couple of spots there are loads of Germans shells, in other spots 303 from the advancing Canucks.
