Don Helms. Hands down that Gibson has the best sound in the room. Always did. Man, he’s the reason I play lap steel.

Love these videos! Can anyone run down the full names of all 4 of the players? I know Jim Vest and Don Helms. Who are the other 2?
@stevew2703 ай бұрын
Tommy White was the young one of the group, he's currently the Opry staff steel player and the other was Stu Basore who played with Ray Price, Kitty Wells and played on some Jean Shepard recordings.

Neal “Pappy” McCormick is the true legend and originator and Godfather. Don Helms got his sound from Neal. Neal was with Hank first. Great video and comments

I don't even play, but the talent and history in this room is jaw dropping. What an absolute honor to have these legends together and sharing with us. It's really moving.

Just browsing and ran across this channel. Sure glad I did ! My dad was a songwriter here since the 70's and thought the world of Jim. They all got together here in H'ville on occasion and dad cherished those times. Great videos here, thanks for sharing !
