Man you make it sound like this place was just such a dismal shack lol. Yes, it looks luxurious and customized now thanks to your vision and work and it looks amazing and has character now, sure the colours and tones material made it feel boring, but really how can you act like a house with that square footage and massive back yard with amazing views jn Barspaw was this dismal little shack lol. Most people are struggling to own a condo in this city let alone a whole house with a whole year’s let alone with that square footage and views…just seems so out of touch…
@BradMcCallum8 күн бұрын
@@LisaSmith-i9c Out of touch? I worked in the trades for 20 years, was the sole income earner in the house, and we were on the lowest end of middle class and we were always broke. We bought our first home 10 years earlier, and struggled to pay our mortgage each month, but it was really important to me to have a space for my family, so on the weekends and the evenings we would put in sweat equity. When we found this house in 2014 it was a DREAM house for us. It’s still a beautiful home by any standard. Back then It had good bones and an awesome yard but was so run down by the previous owners that no one was interested in it - was on the market forever with no one buying it. We saw potential. Then we spent 5 years of evenings and weekends working on it to renovate it. I just don’t get people wanting to see the bad in others. The house represented 20 years of our families savings and hard work… Could we do it all again today in the market we’re living in now? I don’t know - definitely not as easy. But I was always my own boss whether I was in the trades, doing renovations, or now as an agent because I knew no one else was going to care what happened to me or my family, so I might as well try to build something for ourselves. This was our Year 20 video - not our Year 1. Sorry if it came off out of touch.

The real estate agents make 6% off of the person that buys the home it not affordable it’s a joke for Canada as a whole when most mortgages I have to renew it will crater the market just like the American market on house sales because Canada is inner twined with housing and affordability is throw out their to easy because these to estate agents what a big pay day for themselves because any province that’s build on profit is inherently greedy and using affordability as a crutch. This is Canada on a affordability this is a new low for Canada as a country the homeowner and landlord and the tenants and the mortgage and rent will crater because it will have a domino effect because everything is linked together greed is so good in Canada it will crater the market all over Canada I can see it in every province people love money and top dollar for their homes but don’t care about the future of any new family or person that can’t get into the market because ignorant people that say affordability on a $639.000 home is realistic only care about how much they make off the deal. Greedy Canadian people throwing saying the word affordability on to easy.
@BradMcCallum11 күн бұрын
No such thing of 6% in Calgary / it’s more like 1.5% on average to the buyers and sellers agents each. There is no set commission, it’s negotiable, but that’s what i commonly see. As to your point about the future - I think it’s more of an issue of printing money, devaluing the currency, which inflates all other assets, that were also fueled by high demand, partially from high immigration and cheap credit. When the free market is left alone and not artificially manipulated it works pretty well. But that’s not where we’re at right now. Blaming the agent or the greedy seller makes for an easy target but shows a complete misunderstanding of the real underlying issue
