@@finesoul677 time will tell, but BMW have a shed load of recalls, mines still great after 7 months and 5k , lots of 10 to 15k bikes here in Spain. The Engine is Chinese also lol, just like the previous BMW engine was made and designed by Rotax ,Voge build complete bikes for BMW also, they are just badged BMW. On the DSX 900 all the components are top shelve. Suspension, Brakes, tyres, electronics. So unless the chassis cracks like the early GS 1150s we are good.

Might want to check the engine info. I don’t think the BMW is the same engine as the Kawasaki. The BMW uses a reward-canted cylinder head with the exhaust on the back side, while the Kawasaki uses a traditional single, with the exhaust on the front of the head. I think the Voge engine is similar to the Kawasaki’s. The Voge seems popular with riders looking for a true dual sport rather than a typical adventure bike.

Having had to slow to 25 - 40 mph in gusty (25 - 30+ mph) side-winds just to stay on the road on my ~400 pound 390 Adventure, are 435 or 460 pound bikes, like the V-Strom 650, sufficiently more stable to be worth all the downsides of the extra weight? Unfortunately, few 'reviews' mention directional stability in gusty side-winds. Thanks - for whatever insights from your experiences.

The vibrations can only be minimized if the bracket is kept short. Everything has to be closer to the bracket. I am currently mounting a Chigee on the DSX900. I am using the bracket that is mounted on the windshield. The holder for the Chigee is about 4cm wide, so the screen is very close to the holder. All ball joints multiply vibrations and are unnecessary. Once positioned, that is enough. It is very easy to set the angle with the clamp on a round rod. Put the screen in the middle, angle position and it is good.

I agree with you. I've upgraded from the Classic 500 too. I fell in love with SM650 the moment I sat on it and heard the engine. Smooth, refined, no vibrations. Coming from the 500 it felt like everything I wanted in my next bike. The chassis feels like it was built for the Super Metor. Which is why the Shotgun and Classic 650 look like a bit of a compromise. I was surprised that the Classic 650 seems like an adaptation of the Super Meteor 650. I am glad I bought it. This really does feel like the most unadulterated, uncompromised bike that RE are building. Coming to adventure bikes like the Himalayan 450 and even the Guerilla, I just can't get to like them even though everyone else seems to love adv bikes these days. I guess I'm somewhat of anold soul (at 36) that bikes have to appeal to my aesthetic sensibilities more. ADV bikes just look all mad maxxy, and half the people who buy them never venture off road. Roads are getting bad out here in India, so a lot of people pride themselves on buying an adv.
