Loan sword ashigaru as basic units can get pretty insane

Holy crap was this annoying to watch. The whole video was basically you contradicting yourself, commanding your troops and then questioning later why the troops were doing what you commanded them to do in the first place!

I think what's supposed to make the Oda challenging is their place on the map. Owari may be close to some valuable provinces, but being in central Japan means they can be attacked from multiple fronts by multiple enemies, especially since that 'Impolite' trait on your starting Daimyo means most clans are already positioned to dislike you, thus more willing to declare war on you. You can counter this by building relations and eventually ally with a clan that's doing well on one side so you can better focus on the opposite side but, again, that bloody 'Impolite' trait makes building positive relations very difficult, why does it give -20 to diplomatic relations, that is insane in the early game! That being said, you can get around this fairly reliably. Getting your starting Daimyo... removed can help. Nobunaga's only a few years away from being of age to lead so it's not a huge loss. You can also help counter the penalty Impolite gives you by getting high honour for your Daimyo. A good way to farm honour points imo is to vassalize a neighbour next to an enemy, let them get conquered by said enemy, reconquer that province and vassalize again and before long your Daimyo is considered 'exemplary'. If nothing else, it will at least build exp for your leading general and keep non-related generals loyal.

I love exploiting the Incite Revolt function of the Ikko Ikki. The instant garrison makes it so I don’t have to produce and army What I don’t like though is when you’re forced to a Realm Divide because suddenly a neighbouring province rebelled and converted to Ikko Ikki

Played Darthmod I failed a domination campaign with Shimazu once because the AI decided to block all exit out of Kyushu Had too much money from savings but had difficult creating a navy strong enough to kill all enemy ships When I got out, i had 5 armies of full stacks of 3 yari cavalry 4 naginata samurai 8 katana samurai and 4 fire rockets blitzing across the countryside with spare koku to protect every conquered settlement from invaders But it was still not enough

I'm late to the party. I like this because I've been playing total war for years... But it's taken that long to know all these ins and outs, every TW is more or less the same. The toggle formation and holding down right before movement made me chuckle. If you don't know, you don't know lol

I dont understand how to play Takeda , IA's troops are yari ashigaru 90% of the time (anti-cav unit), so, how can horses be usefull in campaign ?, also, they are not so usefull at siege (the main interest of campaign)

Oda is great cause you can make 40 armies for like..... 6 bucks.

You don't appreicate this work until you actually try this campaign, I saw on the map Useugi got big by skipping past their vassle, so I had the idea of sending an amy to help fend off takeda, we defended the seiges for 20-25 turns, tokegawa, takeda, purple faction, they all kept coming and falling, eventually vassle moved its army out of reinforce range, ikko ikki send 2.5 stacks high experience, and the north was a checkerboard mess between me and ally date. I think I could have won if I pushed into unseen territory to take ikko ikki's last province but they had "strong" military and I had 9 weak basic units lol . What a scuffed campaign, i lost my capital several times. Vassle took it just before I could get it. But the stuggle was fun somehow.

Just so you know (If someone didn't say it before) you can Right Click a trainable unit to always have one in queue if you have the resources for it. Also CTRL+1 to 0 to create groups instead of box selecting every time. Have a good Prostagma next time

I haven't actually checked, but I'm pretty sure ikko ikki ashigaru units have much worse veterancy bonuses than normal ashigaru, making them terrible even at high vet.

I decided to watch this, cause I'm probably not gonna buy it for some reason

One challenge I put on myself is the do a No Yari Wall Challenge. I can still use yari ashigaru, but they cannot go into the unstoppable wall formation. My unit to take over their role is the naginata samurai, they hold a line shockingly well with their armour and would be a far more popular unit if the yari wall did not have so much power. Yari wall is so overpowered that it feels like cheating.
