So yea had a Waterbox peninsula 25 at the start, didn't film that tank as I only had a month because I knew I wanted bigger fish & more swim room, so went for second hand Fluval M90 as a budget 3ft started tank. Paid £170 for that. Cost about £1000 to set that up fully running with first fish. Then after 5 months saw the Waterbox Frag 85:3 come up I've never seen a 3ft come up I jumped at it, it was up for £450 and I paid £450, when new I think they are around £1300 so it was a no brainer & it was only an hours drive from me to collect it. So happy I did tho it's such a nice upgrade & now I won't be changing tanks for a long while I hope. Space is always a factor for me & 3ft just fits right in my living, and as must as I would love a 4ft tank it would probably be a bit much. 😬 What tank have you got atm? ☺️

Unfortunately not no, on the M90 it's acid edged on the glass so can't be removed. Sean Hernandez both tanks have there pros and cons depends if you want a open rimless tank or not really, can get the Jewel in other colours which some prefer, the Fluval F90 was my favourite out the two, the Rio is bigger in length by 10cm and with the lid makes it seem a much larger tank something to bear in mind if like me you only have a small living room 😊

Do you feel like the tank itself is pretty solid? I love the tank but I feel like, just from looking at it, that it is so fragile. Also, get a couple real plants. If you get the same ones as the fake ones you got in there they won't shed much, they will look better, and help your tank stay healthy. Such a refined aquarium deserves real plants. It also deserves some more interesting fish. If you go to LiveAquaria look under Freshwater>Killifish>Blue Gularis. Beautiful and rare but easy fish to be showcased in a beautiful tank. You are welcome! Also get a school of Boesemani Rainbows.

Mike M the tank & stand I feel are solid and well made and never felt they feel cheap or like they might fall apart. As for plants this tank used to be planted with real plants with co2 but I found it hard work keeping on top of growth it was that fast. Sticking wise when this video was made the angles were temporary as I change my stock often and have had this tank full on many occasion. Rainbow fish would not last long it as they would jump out and outgrow the tank very fast as it’s only 130 litres. Very nice tank and I can’t recommend the F series enough to people.

A few questions about my fish for this Aquarium, I have 2 angels 2 blue gourami 4 platy 5 blackskirt tetra and a bristlnose pleco. In your opinions am I overstocked and do I have room for anymore or am I spot on? I dont want to max the bioload, I want room for mistakes like over feeding.
@DansReef
@DansReef 7 жыл бұрын
masonj19 Hi, good question and yes from that you would be a little overstocked if using the standard 206 External, if you upgraded to more filtration I think you would be fine. My filter was spot on for this tank and would highly recommend it if you can get one. Comes down to filtration and bio load and how many water changes you would need to do to maintain a stable Nitrate level. My tap water comes out between 10-20 ppm and I have always held large stock in my tanks, so 50-70% water change once a week keeps mine at that level. If you really want that stock and maybe a little more like really small bio load, Check filter/upgrade, then test your water and keep an eye on your levels, you may find you might have to sell some fish or may be able to add more hard to say because every tank is different. Hope that helps and let me know how you get on 😉
@DansReef
@DansReef 7 жыл бұрын
masonj19 just been a Aq adviser well worth a look and a very hand guide. With your stocking if all the fish are fully grown puts your tank stock at 114% not the worst I've seen. Filtration at only 59% on the 206 so you would need a better filter you need that to be 100% plus with your stock. Says 40% water change per week but would more than likely be higher than that. It's only a guide but the filter you would have to upgrade, for example to get the filtration to 117% you would need a Fluval 406 so use that for flow rate and look for a filter you want to upgrade to with a flow rate around that but not lower 😉
@masonj19
@masonj19 7 жыл бұрын
Dan Max wow that Aq advisor is detailed, exactly the information I have been looking for! thanks for that. The angels arent fully grown yet (I think one is stunted) but the other is quite big. I was actually looking at the 406 today and will probably get that in the near future. At the moment Most of the fish are juveniles so not fully grown. So if I rehome one angel and get the 406 filter I should be good hopefuly.
@DansReef
@DansReef 7 жыл бұрын
masonj19 A 406 would be great for what you got, even two angles fully grown would be fine. Most angles do better is groups of four plus but if your two are fine when they get bigger then keep them as they are 😉
@masonj19
@masonj19 7 жыл бұрын
Dan Max thank you I will keep that in mind! no doubt in the not to distant future I will want a bigger tank. When you upgraded your filter did you go through a mini cycle? see I can transfer the bio media but sponges and that wont fit in the bigger filter which likely holds a lot of bacteria too, or is it not an issue.

whats it like having an open top? this seems strange to me. its noisy enough with a lid on. but maybe the noise is less with an external filter. and fish tanks can smell - but maybe thats the smell of grime in the lid.
@DansReef
@DansReef 7 жыл бұрын
Max Wilson honestly with an open top rimless tank even tho it's got the little curved lids/jump guards on the light, clearly if I fish wants to jump out it will. So fish that are known to jump are clearly not a wise choice. Think I lost two fish in the time I had the tank, but was running a semi aggressive set up so think some chasing was going on and that was a last resort. Noise? The only thing you hear is the External in the stand, but most External filters are so quite you can only hear them if your sofa is next to the tank like mine was, but as I could see the tank great I didn't care about a little humm, the outlets are silent and you have a good week before the water level drops for them to make any noise, and that leads me onto smell... I used to do one water change a week and maybe one top off to keep the level correct. I had no smell what so ever, but when I had my Juwel Rio 180 with a lid guess what, I had smell when ever opened because I guess not much air gets in there to keep it from smelling. Over all it's a great setup and I will hopefully be going back to the F90 again soon

Thank you, the stand is solid and well built, and the finish is nice also, very well made and does have a more high end feel to it, it's simple but works, in fact it's a little over kill for the tank really, on carpet it could be because most the weight runs front to back on the ends and has a centre piece also. I had mine on carpet and it was thick pile with a 10mm underlay and to keep it level I placed two round bits of plastic the size of a two pound coin at the front and it was perfect. They would be a wobble when empty but get your level right and then just add water in stages, let the tank settle and as the tank fills it becomes solid. On a hard floor you would be fine.

My only concern is with the locking nuts for the bottom hose on the canister..........the top hoses have metal jubilee style clips to hold them in place whilst the bottom only have the plastic locking nuts that you hand tighten. I am worried they may pop off and I will have 200 litres of water spilling out onto the floor............

On the fluval 06 range, the white rubber end of the hose goes onto the filter and screws down using the red turn screws. The other end for the out let and let just push into the rubber ends. Have a look on your tube and your soon being set up. The Roma is a great tank 😀

yikes can you imagine... its not just water its aquarium water, basically a bacterial soup and all of that 34 gallons pouring onto your floor into the carpet pads and everywhere. Realistically though if it was deteriorating it would do it slowly and not just all at once and youd probably start noticing a drip and have time to empty the tank before it gives out.
@Sharak19
@Sharak19 6 жыл бұрын
35gallons is more than enough for a school of boesemani rainbows but it is your choice. They do get a little big but they don’t get large. The plants were growing out of control because you were feeding them too much. Don’t use a CO2 or any plant additives or special lights in your tank. Just get a couple long broad leafed plants and stick em in there. They will get the co2 and nutrients they need naturally, if you add anything it will make them grow wildly.
