Yessss the favoritism coming from supervisors, these employees experience anxiety and stress everyday! These higher and superiors are very unethical and speak to their custodians in a very unethical way!

Ms Grande essential was saying she was with schools remaining open but due to the uproar caused in the community just close- SAVING FACE at its finest Medina- very valid points that are inclusive of the needs of an entire community- those parents who needed schools be open, teachers with/without sick time, parents/kids who are sick Her comment about Netflix and Disneyland was simply saying you can keep your kids at home at anytime doing whatever you want to do The school board needs to hire me as PR cause honey chile- the way I woulda had the perspective together smh

As a teacher, I see both sides. I have a student who is 6 years old who lives in a motel with their mother and brother and I know that the mother works and has no one who can help her. I am worried for my student and her brother during these times where they have no where to go

That was very insulting to say that the teachers want to stay home and watch Netflix. The teachers have more direct interaction and relationships with their students than all of the board members combined. They are worried about the safety of the kids that have been placed in their care. For this to be a school board, quite a few of you don't sound very educated or intelligent.

Here's an idea. If they're worried about the student's who can't be home or feel safe at home, have them go to the high school gyms in their area. The student's won't be outside, there's A/C in the gym, restrooms and they can have lunch too in the gym. Just put on a movie on a projector or have a few activity centers. Like drawing, crafts, board games, or whatever to keep them entertained. Im sure some of the teachers and staff would be willing to help out. This way, it can give a safe place or help a parent who doesn't have a babysitter.

Omg I love all the people that spoke. But I wish the lady that spoke spanish had a better translator. There was so much that she said that did not get translated. Ultimately Im glad they finally did the right thing.

If I could use a swamp cooler instead of central air I would use the swamp cooler it saves on a lot of electricity electrical bill are going thru the roof I was raised and lived in my adult hood with a swamp cooler I had no issues with them

Until Friday idk about that I would of just said until further notice. What if the fire isn’t controlled until another week. Also just cause the fire is put out (hopefully soon) doesn’t mean the air quality is gunna be ok in a matter of minutes or hours. Just like how the smell of smoke lingers around when we are at a bbq or or just sitting around with our family and friends the smoke smell stays on our clothes until washed or cleaned

My only hope is for my girl's to get teachers as the two who spoke up tonight. That math teacher is so heartfelt and scared yet will show up if he's told he needs too yet the board member saying " watching Netflix and going to Disney is the biggest joke on the podium ". I pray they help the teacher that could be loosing his home as we speak.

Ppl hear one word or comment and don’t look at it in the context of it being said- if I was him I just wouldn’t have said anything about golf, Netflix, or Disneyland- he should have known that his words would be taken out of context by ppl who barely passed Highschool He clearly articulated the reasons for his decisions- prediction on air quality, understanding of filters/air conditioners, value of students being at school, consideration of impact of district closure, etc. lol but all ppl heard was golf, Netflix, and Disneyland Etc.

Seeing one of my old speech and debate teammates from middle school speaking up on the podium like this (Hugo) really makes me so proud, I don't know why. President Tillman is also the man who sabotaged the meeting to replace Margaret Hill after she passed away. He called one of the candidates and tried to influence him into dropping out. And admitted in the meeting but held the meeting anyway. He has a big ego and likes to sling it around

Miss Medina is unfit to be a board member, shes an emotional wreck. The president should be replaced with Mary Ellen Grande because he is clueless. Mary took accountability and was rational and concise when speaking. And thank you to Miss Megan Owens for pointing out the insensitive comments made by Miss Medina and for saying what a lot of teachers have been wanting to say.

Its a facade. She's doing it to save face after the last teacher had spoken up. If she had been so interested in providing support for the families, that should've been priority when it had been declared a state of emergency or followed along with the neighboring districts. There are always ways to provide support as needed. Instead, the Superintendent only provided an email stating two things for those employed with the district: 1. That more substitute teachers would be shuffled during this trying time (and all of the staff being utilized are "appreciated"). 2. If the parents have any questions or concerns regarding keeping the district open, they should contact their schools individual principal (aka, don't bring your concerns to the board) Good for those who spoke up. You guys are awesome.
