There's an outstanding detail I completely forgot to mention in the video. Because the workaround is based on a plugin, the grammar and spelling checks will also work in Obsidian Android app. And guess what? There's no LanguageTool app for Android 🤯

That's ingenious! I'm going to try to use this approach to sync other iPad apps that actively try to pervert syncing outside of the Apple gulag.

But do tasks work well on Evernote mobile? Oracle you always work on desktop 🖥️

I have the problem that when i have tags and a date in the card and then want to create a note out of the cart it takes the tag and date in to the title. Is there a workaround?

What are some of the things you are doing in Obsidian that you can’t do in Evernote?

I have started to use Evernote because of you many years ago, but in the last 2 years I have struggling between Evernote and Apple Notes. The Evernote Desktop App is pretty good and solid, and the webclipper is still the best tool to capture information across the web, but when we talk about mobile app the Evernote it’s terrible, it’s totally useless. The notebook structure is outdated. In beginning of the year I decided to migrate definitely to a combination between Apple Notes and Obsidian because both can’t do well all the things that I need. I’m pretty happy with my choice.

Wow, that is big news. I've been loyally using Evernote for 18 years and I'm going down a similar path, not because I think I'm outgrowing Evernote, but because I'm so frustrated everyday with the bugs it is affecting my health. I'm constantly hitting bugs that have been there (and reported) for up to 4 months and I'm not detecting any urgency from BS to fix them. Some of the bugs are probably just bugging people like me such as breaking a keyboard shortcut that use. Some of them though I would consider very high priority like not being able to see and scroll through all of my notes in a large notebook and only being able to scroll through 128 notes in a large search of > 300. <sarcasm> But hey, at least they released 100 new features last year. </sarcasm> I've been playing around with Obsidian for years - on and off. It is the only tool I've found that can do everything I want / use. I'd spend time on Obsidian when I was mad or scared about Evernote, or when I was jealous of its features. Slowly Evernote added many of those features and kept me on the hook - backlinks, note links with search dialog, [[ link syntax, slash menu, table of contents, collapsable lists and headings, youTube previews. The progress has been very impressive, but lately I feel like I'm just one release and one bug away from being broken. For the last 6 months I've been regularly exporting and backing up my notebooks as well as trying to perfect converting them to .md with YARLE. Over holiday break, fueled by frustration and caffeine, I managed to get Obsidian configured with the right set of plugins and settings to mimic my Evernote system (I use nearly every feature). I exported 4000 of my archived notes over to test it out. Boy was that a lot more work than I'd recommend to anyone. I think I'm ready and I could convert if I wanted to. Now I'm in a holding pattern waiting to see if Evernote makes things better or not.

Good luck with Obsidian. Hope you will continue to share thoughts on Evernote. For example the new Spaces structure is very useful but the best approaches are unclear and there are some glitches to be worked round.

Very interesting. Aren't there structures in Scrivener which cannot be safed as *.md? Formats for example. What happens if you syncronize them back form obsidian to Scr? Are they lost?

I was hoping to find out how to post to a published feed. I follow various feeds about classical music - and if I want to announce a new album or other news, can I publish that so others following the same feed will see it?

I wish you could do "algebra" with lists. Like I've made a list of my favorite accounts, and now I'd like to make a list that is everyone else I follow, without having to manually go through and pick out everyone not in my favorites list. This would make it easier for me to further sub-divide and organize other list categories from my "non-favorites". Is there some way to do this that I'm just missing?

Yup using Supernote and Obsidian, this is a much better setup but I still prefer to use syncthing or manual copying and paste if possible, as don’t really like personal stuffs to be store in cloud.

Hey Vlad, as always, thanks for the video. I am very interested in what you are doing here. How do you get the thumbnails to show up in Obsidian for KZbin? Do you have a preferred plugin?

I tried this app, and my experience was that it didn’t feel quite premium yet. It’s a bit wonky, and it miss heard simple words way to often, even when reading deliberately from mainstream and popular books when testing it out. Used it on iPad Pro.

Have you tried using the Obsidian Ink plugin with the stylus on your supernote? Would love to see how well it writes!

Sorry, one more.... The callouts icons used in your blog like 'Support' and 'Book' do not look like the standard ones in Obsidian. Are these part of the publish theme you are using or via some other trickery?

I agree that Bending Spoons have improved to Evernote. It was a pleasant surprise. I expected one of those private equity firm dick moves, where they buy a company, then squeeze everything good out of it to make a profit for their shareholders. In the new Evernote, there are a lot of new features I’m not at all interested in, such as tasks, calendar integration, and all the AI junk, but it now works a lot better on my mobile devices than it used to. When I search among my more than 5000 notes, I can actually find and retrieve what I’m looking for. I’m not overjoyed about paying 2 1/2 times the annual fee than I did before, but I agree with Bending Spoons’ decision to rewrite the code base from the ground up. As a retired developer myself, I can appreciate how tangled legacy code can get, and how much such code can make it incredibly difficult to improve the software. I also agree with their decision to vastly cut back services for the free users. It costs money to host notes and files on servers. That said, if they ever decide to eliminate the free version entirely, I will start looking for another solution, and start migrating the most critical of my notes. It would make me too nervous to think that if I could no longer afford to pay, I would lose access to all my notes.

Voicenotes is great. It just needs to add Tasks and accountability features so that the tasks can be marked as done and removed from the AI's memory. This is a nice video.

Thank you! This helped me understand how i shall sort my notes and that tags might be more useful than creating long notes with one topic, i might create shorter notes and tag them instead. This will help med find the right notes faster
