Today we had beautiful sailing on our Zegrze Lake near Warsaw and after four hours with a reef in 3-4 Bft, I was barely alive. I'm planning a trip to the Bay of Puck (inner part of the Bay of Gdańsk) and take my sailing canoe BETH "YuanFen", but there will only be short trips out on the water... Best regards!

After righting the boat, there should never remain so much water inside. With strong winds, you will get into real trouble. This boat needs a lot of foam flotation, firmly tied to the boat's inner side. Flotation chambers forward and at the tramsom is not very useful. This is my own experience😢 Good luck.😊

Totally agree ! ... This GIS was a construction on plan. The thicknesses of wood and reinforcements were very significant, the interior was raised, and it had a waterproof central box. Result a much heavier GIS than expected: 160 kg equipped (around 350 lbs). On my new GIS, I tested the same capsize, resulting in only 7 cm of water inside (evacuated easily with 2 Andersen Automatic Bailers). Much easier on my new GIS 👍!

Bonjour la Bretagne. Je me suis rendu compte après que l'aménagement intérieur du bateau n'était pas celui du Skerry. Le GIS est hyper rapide, on le sait, il l'a démontré. Est-ce que le Skerry arrivait à suivre tout de même ? En tout cas, ce genre de sortie, c'est le pied ! Tu prends un coup de jeune qui te booste pour les jours à venir ... PS : excellente pub pour l'étanchéité des Go-Pro ! Elles aussi avaient intérêt à bien s'accrocher 😮.

Le GIS est plus rapide: j'avançais bien avec mon Skerry surtoilé mais je n'arrivait pas à suivre les GIS. Par contre le GIS est plus volage, le Skerry est très sécurisant.

Bonjour, bonsoir depuis la Guadeloupe où je suis vos exploits. Très belles sortie avec de jolis dauphins, en plus ! Par moments, ça a frisé la correctionnelle. J’ai bien cru que l'empannage allait être violent et ben non, pas d'empannage, enfin sur le montage et surtout pas de dessalage : bravo ! Je pense que la montée d'adrénaline était bien présente malgré la réelle maîtrise à bord. Le film était réalisé à bord du Skerry, n'est-ce pas ? Bien marin tout de même ce petit voile-aviron !

Merci pour les commentaires 🙂! Il n'y a pas vraiment d'exploits, la seule différence éventuelle est que je les filme ( et j'assume mes erreurs, cela peut servir à d'autres 😆!). Les dauphins ne sont théoriquement pas présents en Rance, mais depuis quelques années certains passent l'écluse du "Barrage de la Rance" (la "cantine" doit être bonne 😉). Pour la correctionnelle c'est tout à fait cela, et je confirme que l'adrénaline était bien là, dans les 2 bateaux ! Il n'y a pas eu d'empannage de mon côté, sinon il serait sur la vidéo (j'assume !). J'ai tout fait pour laisser la voile ouverte au maximum, et si besoin je tentais de rester au grand largue pour éviter un retour brutal (et fatal!) de la bôme. Thierry a tenté de naviguer plus bordé, il a empanné 3 fois mais sans chavirer. Aucun dessalage donc, la chance était avec nous ! Les vidéos depuis 2020 sont sur mon "Goat Island Skiff" (Skerry revendu en 2020, et premier "GIS" revendu en 2022). D'où l'appellation "Keleren III" (non je n'ai pas fait couler les 2 autres 😂!).

Bonne question ! et la réponse est très simple ! …Toutes mes vidéos sont en FR, sauf exceptionnellement celle-ci (qui est en version FR également !). On m'a posé beaucoup de questions (en anglais surtout) pour savoir comment j'avais pu filmer aussi longtemps sous l'eau, si j'étais plongeur, etc...donc il était plus simple pour moi de refaire une version anglaise que d'essayer de répondre clairement à chaque question sans visuel (je n'ai jamais eu autant de questions qu'avec ce "naufrage" d'ailleurs, étonnant) ….Bref, j'ose espérer que ma réponse (en FR) à votre question sera compréhensible !

Beautiful craftsmanship, I enjoyed the holes in the transom braces. Clever wooden hatch cover on the rear bench, fabulous use of a flat sided bucket. I will definitely add the non approved Teo sealed side tanks to my plans, along with your style transom braces. Thank you for sharing this.

Great, realistic video. Also perhaps a few things that could be learned from. 1) On capsize, don't grab gunnel - a boat with wooden mast is likely to lay on its side without turtling for a bit if you don't pull it over. 2) use leverage on the center-board to right quickly. 3) Modify a build with caution -- it seems possible that the starboard bench seat kept some of the water from draining out as you righted the boat. If the wind is going to cause a new capsize, then take down the sail; but usually its enough to loosen the mainsheet; before it gets waterlogged, the sail can add some flotation while you're preparing to right the boat and maybe avoid that turtle! Thanks for the great video.

1) and 2) it's done! (and my mast is carbon) 3) the benches are not glued along the hull, the water could come out easily, not against the manufacturer of this GIS made an "armored" hull and it is much heavier than the GIS in kit form and sinks more. The turtle was made at the first capsize, before having time to touch the sail! For the video: I accept my mistake and I share it, it's not every day that we can film this "stunt" 😉 !

I tested a capsize on my new GIS, the benches are "watertight" however the "Portata" launching rollers under the benches prevent it from sinking too much, the difference: only 7 cm in the bottom of the boat (and emptied with the "quick empties"). Merci J.P. 🙂 A l'origine il y avait un gennaker mais c'était trop pour un "amateur" comme moi. J'ai échangé pour plus petit (et plus esthétique pour mon goût personnel). Cela me fait un foc d'environ 2,50 m² en plus de la misaine. En vent, nous avons été préservés chez nous (à part un épicéa sectionné et arraché). Tout autour il y a eu de la casse en tous genres (mais moins que par chez vous! …"seulement" 158 km/h relevés à St Malo )

We have an excellent video again! 🥰 It's cool to see the three GIS together with other sailboats!🥰 I wanted to ask what that beautiful flag is on the stern of your GIS? *** I use the flag of Polish seagoing vessels (including Polish seagoing yachts) but I do not have the maritime registration of my GIS and some say that I am abusing it. But fans don't abuse the flag at a football match? We do not have the custom of using regional flags on boats and ships, because perhaps I would use the flag of Masovia (a white eagle on a red background - somewhat similar to the Polish emblem, but without the crown) 😁

Oh, I should also add that ships and inland boats in Poland should (have the right to) carry the Polish flag, but without an emblem - white eagle with gold crown on red shield. Well, sometimes I sail in sea waters, although close to the shore, so my GIS is a sea vessel. ;-) And one more thing: for some time Kashubians have been using the Kashubian flag, two horizontal stripes, black and yellow, but they also have controversy and I saw a different version of the Kashubian flag - a black cross of the Scandinavian type on a yellow background, and at the intersection of the cross a yellow one a shield with a black griffin on it, the Kashubian coat of arms.
