What would it be like if Renault stayed in the United States under an Independent Brand? It could be that today we would see European vehicles such as the espace, trafic, kangoo, Koleos, Mégane, Austral, Scénic among others and the new Le Car E-Tech

I bought new in 1986. Lived in Bedford NY back then. I liked the car. Kept till 1992 and bought a new Oldsmobile 98. The little car was not a bad ride. Thank you

This is a 1981 ad. He refers to the “New Jeep Scrambler,” which launched for 1981. Plus, the 18i launched in 1981, but the Fuego isn’t in the ad, probably because it was new in the US for ‘82.

I remember seeing a Fuego at our Western NY (Elmira) AMC dealer and thinking it looked so cool. Plus turbo. Ooo. Little did I know what a turdblossom it was.

Had one it was the biggest nightmare ever the electrical was messed up , finally traded it back to the dealer and got an 69 AMC javelin SST , that was a beast !

No, it was no more crap than the Chrysler k car series, it price wasn't as low as the k car, that's really what killed it.

there is a guy in town that has a 1984 AMC Encore with no engine + no transmission. I wonder if it's possible to put a slightly more powerful engine in that thing?

Who, me? I, for one, really wish I had one of those "Fuego" sports cars, back in the day. That model sure looked like it would've be fun to drive around the neighborhood, saying, "Look what I've got!".

AMC really deserves alot of credit for being the very first crossover 4x4 vehicle offered. The shift on the fly was a huge deal as most automobiles you had to stop to put it into 4-wheel drive. The insides were even luxurious compared to most other offerings too. Great to see this commercial lives on.
