There's one problem tho: I'm using the newest cinema4d version, and when I click right on Subdivision Surface to Current State Object, it duplicates and turns it into a null, not a polygon like it's shown in your video and that screws me up later on when I try placing the seeds. Any tips for it? Thank you, nice tutorials!

What if the polygon object is huge? I can't make the shader field any larger than a small cube.
@josephthomasvfx6 ай бұрын
There should be a setting that you can change in the shader field properties inside the volume builder called “box size”

I don't suppose you could describe how to export the rock as an fbx and include the baked texture? I keep trying to bake it and it just gives me a black png.

I cant make more than one shader layer...the new c4d looks totally different
@violdolli2 жыл бұрын
yeah! I agree
@dfox0512 жыл бұрын
Figured it out! You have to add the initial displace shader as a layer. Not a noise. Then click into the layer and add your noise options.

Hi Joseph, thank you for the tutorial. It is really helpful as in it helps to create some beautiful abstract art. I was playing around and replaced the sphere with other objects (i.e. torus, square etc) under shader field but the noise affect doesn't show up on screen. If you see this comment do you mind explaining why? Thank you so much!
@josephthomasvfx6 ай бұрын
Hey Catherine! Thanks for watching the video! when you replace the sphere with a different object you will need to re-order the layers inside the volume builder settings so that the new object is beneath the shader field. By default it places it above everything else which is why it's not applying the noise and the smooth to your object.
@AlecSharratt1012 жыл бұрын
Great video. Is there a way to get the texture displacement to work with volume builder? I use C4D for designing models to print on a 3D printer. When exporting to an stl file it does not carry the displacement of the texture.

And i cant see any settings into "forces" for the cloth tag, i can just include or exclude objects
@NathanTekaya2 жыл бұрын
Just found this comment on a forum for the gravity "Either go to Project Settings > Simulation and disable it there (this is the default location), or add a simulation scene object to the scene and disable it there. The Simulation scene object allows you to have multiple sims with different settings in the same scene. You need to add the simulation tags or forces to the simulation scene object for it to be able to control them."

how do you connect the random effector to the stem? I create the effector and nothing changes.
@josephthomasvfx2 жыл бұрын
Make sure you have the cloner selected when you make the random effector then it should connect properly.

hi! A cool tutorial, but I didn't succeed, I'm trying to figure out maybe I have too old a version of r21, I can't apply the shader effector. It just doesn't apply in the volume creation window. What could be the matter?
@josephthomasvfx2 жыл бұрын
Hi, sorry not sure why it's not working for you. I've included a copy of my project files in the video description if you want to take a closer look and perhaps find why it's not working on your end.
