🙄🙄🙄yet ANOTHER UPITTY review, always overly critical. IM JUST UTTERLY IRRITATED BY BOURON CHANNELS THAT WHINE about “ price “ as an Excuse to shoot down a brand new; WHEN LITERALLY HAVING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF BOURBON ON THEIR WALLS 🤣🤣🤣FN ridiculous. $35 is a ridiculous price to people struggling to put gas in their car, but would love to have just 1 of your “ affordable “ bottles ‼️😆SMDH

I get that a lot on ECBP but it’s really random. The same batch can be perfection one night then a little bitter another night. I haven’t been able to pinpoint the reason.

On-point review, Lance. The thing that interests me most from a market point of view on this year’s batches is that at OKC’s biggest (not best) store, until last week a case stack each of A124 and B524 sat out for maybe a month at lower-end MSRP (I think they pulled them back for Christmas now). That never happened here even back in the 20/21 days. Cya in Nashville in a couple of weeks, brother.

@@WhiskeyTornado I know right? The week before when I last saw the stacks, the B524 was down to a couple of cases and A124 maybe four. Maybe they sold thru…I kept pumping up the craziness of really good (okay maybe not C923) bottles sitting for weeks in the state bourbon FB group when the norm here in my experience is maybe a week of gettable batches. I only suppose the pull cuz I know this store loves flooding the floor with inventory for their pre-Christmas allocation sale day. I’m just happy we got Disco 12 on release day last week (I think maybe they felt guilty for skipping us with 11)…it’s a monster, man! And our best pick store dropped their Holladay Soft Red Wheat pick the same day…eases the BFH change from Holladay to Green River…like that is a major disappointment.

I understand the frustration in the price. But I have a bottle, and I have to say, it is one of my favorite whiskies of all time. It is hard to find flaws in it. It doesn't rival the very best King of Kentucky pours I have had or some years of WLW, but it beats some KoK's. Sometimes, you have to take your hat off and say, "I hate the price, but the quality is there." This is one of those times. Further, unlike some of the more divisive Turkey releases (which I love) like the WTMK BiB 17, this one is not divisive. It is a crowd pleaser. I don't know about the short finish. It sticks to my palate like glue and the finish builds after a couple of sips. It is hard to find fault here, other than the price.
@WhiskeyTornado
@WhiskeyTornado Ай бұрын
I respect your differing opinion my man. It is a great bourbon no doubt but it just isn’t twice as good as good ECBP batches and that’s where I have a problem. These distilleries, especially Campari are playing the bourbon world for suckers but I can’t blame them. They will keep charging absurd prices until we stop buying. I’m just at my tipping point
@cartermayfield
@cartermayfield Ай бұрын
@@WhiskeyTornado, I get it. But if you knew up front that $250 plus tax was too much to pay for a bottle no matter what’s inside, why buy the bottle at all? BTW, at $250, it is flying. Interestingly, the 1998 Russell’s LE was 16 years and also $250. I think the whiskey in the bottle is great. Now the WTMK Triumph… total rip off as was the Voyage. Both legitimately not worth the price tag. Now I do whiskey reviews and people rip me for my scoring. They say, “Well if this shelfer is 93 points, how high is King of Kentucky, 175 points?” And to your point, it gets better, but not that much better. My scores are based purely on quality and I let everyone decide what value is. I was in wine for a while and the stuff that is exponentially more expensive is not exponentially better. In fact, sometimes it’s not better at all. I gave ECBP C923 95 points. I gave RR15 98 points. Is the 3 points worth the extra $175 or so? I let the consumer decide.
@WhiskeyTornado
@WhiskeyTornado Ай бұрын
@@cartermayfield why buy the bottle? Because I have a review channel. That’s the only reason I spend over $150 for any bottle. I think it’s important to discuss value relative to what’s on the market. I always have and I always will. Cheers.

It’s due to the 36 month seasoned french oak medium toast profile we use. The 36 month seasoning leaches a lot of tannins in the wood and we go with a custom toast vs a char. Most double oaked products use a char 3 or 4 barrel which gives it a darker color. We sacrifice color for interesting and different flavor profile than every other double oak on the market
