I tried this on an existing object and it did not work. Just to be sure, I created a new object and a rectangle and it worked perfectly. The object I am trying to cut is an image that I had already cut into an elipse with the "Set Clip" tool. Is there anything I need to undo in order to use the division path on top of this?
@learnwithmnofficialАй бұрын
Division is one of a Path Operation that only works on paths. Image is not a path or even a clipped image is not a path that's why it will have no effect. To remove any part of the image you can use Set Clip. It can be used to crop any image and also remove any part of an image. If you still have any confusion, feel free to write us. You can also share your queries with us on Instagram.

What about the cut function in the object menu ?
@learnwithmnofficial2 ай бұрын
There isn't a cut function in the Object menu. In Inkscape, the "Cut" option (Ctrl + X) is part of the Edit menu, and it works for cutting selected objects to the clipboard. Or, "Cut Path" is found under the Path menu for cutting paths/strokes. We have created a video tutorial on that too. Let us know if this clears up your query or if you need any other help.

I was looking for a way to resize the canvas, so ended up here. What you're showing here is resizing the page area, not the canvas. They're not the same thing.
@learnwithmnofficial2 ай бұрын
You are right, technically, they are not the same but sometimes they are used interchangeably. In Inkscape, the page is the defined boundary for final design work that you can resize and export, while canvas is the surrounding workspace area. The canvas itself is infinite, so it can’t be resized.

Is it possible to use fracture, without losing the original lines/paths? Maybe in a hidden option?
@learnwithmnofficial3 ай бұрын
Whenever you apply the path operation (including fracture), you will lose the original shapes/paths that you selected for the path operation and get a new result from them. If you need those original shapes/paths later, duplicate them before applying any operation and hide them from the "Layers Tab" for your ease. After applying the path operation, you will still have your original shapes/paths in the same position for later use. If you still have any questions, feel free to write us or you can also share your question with us on Instagram. Thank You.

if we move the object, the gradient is different how to solve this?
@learnwithmnofficial3 ай бұрын
It can be because of your Selection tool settings. If you see after the unit drop-down, you will find 4 different options. If the third option (Move gradient along with object) is disabled, this can cause a change in gradient by moving the object. Disabling this will not move the gradient of your object when you move it, and you may feel your object is distorted or disappeared. Please enable it and then try to move and scale your object. Let us know if it solves your issue or not. If you still have any queries, feel free to ask. Thank You.

When I Simplify The Nodes It's Changing The Shape Of My Logo Can You Give Me A Solution?
@learnwithmnofficial4 ай бұрын
The shape can change when you simplify nodes in Inkscape, especially with detailed designs. Simplify works best on simple shapes, with too many nodes. To keep your logo looking right, try adjusting nodes with the Node tool after simplifying or removing nodes manually for better control.

The way you explain it in the video is vary straight forward and easy to understand but does not work for some reason. Is there maybe something in Preferences that needs to be set different?

how do i save the cropped part with out the original popping up?
@learnwithmnofficial6 ай бұрын
To save just the cropped part without the original showing up, you must export it by selection. For this: 1. Select the part you cropped. 2. Go to File > Export (Ctrl+Shift+E). 3. In the Export tab, choose the Selection tab. 4. Set your export settings, file location, and format, then click Export. This will save only the cropped part of the image.

It depends on which shape/design you want to cut. We have discussed different examples using this same method to explain which shape will cut and which will not. You can watch that video to understand it closely. Secondly, only division was there in the previous versions, but in the new Inkscape version, Fracture, and Shape Builder Tool can also help you achieve similar results.
