MaryKate, posting this video was the coolest thing to do, it shows all of us that we need to be easy on ourselves when we make mistakes - and we need to be confident enough to admit that we are not perfect. Also you have really cool green eyes. I do hope that does not sound too creepy. All the best, Su

Weaving and mistakes go hand in hand 😅 Not creepy! It's really sweet of you. My eyes actually vary between blue and green depending on the light and the colors around me

Me again sorry.. may I ask, what do you do with the cloth once it´s done? To me, this looks like perfect project bags for any knitting or crochet project ;) Also, did you solve the sticky frames problem? If not, maybe you might try rubbing a little bit of bar soap on them where they touch wood . I use that trick for drawers in cabinets that are a bit hard to open and close and it works wonders. Have a wonderful weekend, Su
@marykatealsvig8 күн бұрын
This was just for practice, so I don't have a plan for the cloth. It could be cool sewn into a bag or something, I'll keep that in mind. I have not solved the issue, nor have I tried bar soap. Clever! I'll try it before my next project and see if it helps

Hello, Mary Kate, I do see what you said about dressing a loom being like yoga, but i really have to be in right mindset to do it. So, with the warp you have there, as i am right now, i would be completely overwelmed. All the more do I enjoy watching you dressing the loom in these gorgeous colours. Maybe one day I find the inner calm place to begin such a challenge. The result is so lovely, it is always worth the effort. Thank you for letting me sit and enjoy your craft. All the best, Su

Those waffle things look yummy. Question from a total newb, if the loom sticks like that, can you use heddles that are further apart or does that not help?

That's actually a really good idea! Could be worth giving a shot. I've never had this particular sticking issue before, but I'm pretty sure it's just because the loom is so new. My hope is after time it will move more smoothly.

Can you not just cut out the two extra threads and just pull them out or would that make a gap at that spot?
@marykatealsvig3 ай бұрын
That would put a gap in my pattern, because I have it threaded through the heddles first in a 1234 pattern, so if I cut out 34 the pattern would look like 121234. Which would fix the reed but create an even bigger problem. I could take out a whole block of the heddles but then I would have a gap in the reed. It's the unwinable conundrum.

Love watching your life. I'm back to weaving, started when mine were Max's age, fun times. Just starting to warp my Baby Wolf and saw this one, timely! Since you share so much, I'd like to share one. I found a few unused curtain rods and am reusing them to support the lea sticks. Quick, works great! I was given a 72" LeClerc, mid 60s; just finished all the parts that needed replacing. Repaired warp and finished that a few days ago. Keep doing what you love. I love watching. Wishing you well.

Thank you for your video - and congratulations! I bought a second (third?) hand baby wolf and the heddle bar clips look like someone inverted the orientation along the way. The front two clips are oriented such that the gap points to the front and the clips are left of centre, whereas the back two are oriented towards the back and the clips are right of centre - makes for a challenge threading. If you don't mind - when you got your loom from Schacht, were all the heddle bar clips oriented in the same direction? (looks like from the video) Thanks - MJO
@marykatealsvig6 ай бұрын
If I understand correctly, it sounds like the back two are on upside down and backwards. You can take them off by pulling up and unscrewing the nob on the bottom, then flip them around until they meet your needs better. I typically try to divide the heddles half on each side of center, so you may want to try that as well. The heddles weren't all on when I got the loom but they were sent with proper orientation for easy installment.
