What if all i have is the screw and im time sensitive so i dont have time to get a drill bit? Is there another way to drill without splitting the wood?

I was trying to screw together 2 14mm maçaranduba slats and they both cracked with drills and nails! What is the limit of the drill? 1mm below the screw diameter?

There seems to be some editing/splicing in the video. The final set screw you show up close does not appear to be the same screw you drilled near the edge…is this because you stopped from driving it all the way down or it split the wood without countersinking the screw? Either way you should mention that it’s likely if your drilling near the edge you absolutely need to either countersink screw or use a bigger pilot hole for that final bit or you will split the wood.

Just got one of these used, a P2006 12". Can't seem to find the combination to telescoping the shaft. Maybe some versions of these come without that feature?

Wow! Thanks a lot! It's refreshing when one is in a very short notice to do this kind of work. I'm very inexperienced, but this gives me a renewed confidence in that I sort of can do it! without damaging the wood too much!

That last piece of advice really helped, using the next size up to remove the bolt if it started slipping. Earned my like and subscription.

There's nothing more annoying than having to hand-screw something together kzbin.infoUgkx1McjgiqTNcTjrhvRvJWcrk5bzTeQW-Wn except for the pain in your wrist that is. This addition to my tool kit is great and I can get a lot done without all the pain and annoyance. The battery last's a long time and I have yet to run out of power when doing a small project (granted I am saying small project because I'm no construction worker). The only thing that I wish it had was an LED or pair of LEDs to indicate when it was charging and whether or not the charge was complete (or full).

Did you use the 1 setting for driving the screw into the pilot hole or does it even matter? I noticed you used the 2 setting for the pilot hole. (I'm just starting out)

Looks great. I do see a major issue though. What you gonna do when you need to replace the laminate flooring? Hmm? All this could be mounted to 2x4 wall studs a few inches off the floor, then capped with trim. Easily remove the trim if the floor needs replacing.

Notice when he 1st put the drill bit to the screw it turned, So not real world as most stripped screws have been weathered or rusted in for awhile, fresh wood, new fastener & no metal aplication=bad demo!

thank you for this. I'm trying to drill through a 4x4 cedar using a 3/8 bit (for passing lag screws). When the drill bit comes out of the other end, the wood often is breaking up near the hole. is there a way around this?

Put scrap wood the other side or just let the tip go through and then drill in from the other side.
