6 been a Scout leader for 20+ years along with DofE leader and have had many waterproof jackets over the years, including paramo. Last year, I bought a new coat and found myself after many years holding a Berghaus cornice gtx in my local outdoor store. Been to the Beacons for a four day DofE gold practice rained the whole time, and it didn't miss a beat, and I love the hood. Yes, it's a bit heavier, but it's built exactly what this old scouter needs, relaxed fit, gtx reliability, longer and no need to mortgage the house. Ps, it also went to Budapest in December for four days with a micro down jacet mid layer with rain, sleet, and then snow perfect.

Fjallraven is a manufacturer of casual fashion wear with an outdoor theme. You never see real outdoors professionals using this stuff. It’s cute and the girls like it.
@Andy-walkaboutnuttyАй бұрын
@Andy-x3i8y I would disagree with that. In the damp UK, the trousers are very popular, but the jackets are not. Probably because the Swedish weather, especially the snow is a lot more dryer than ours. It's fashionable to wear in the street just like north face, rab, paramo and berghaus. Street clothes are 1/4 the price or cheaper and doesn't last as long. As for professionals, some of the guys on some of the series on sas who dares wins are wearing the black fjallraven keb trousers and "prepared pathfinder" - long serving military on KZbin, is wearing the fjallraven vidda pro trousers. Fjallraven clothing can be very general purpose, whereas some outdoor brands in the UK I dare say are ideal for damp environments only. hiking only. Not bushcraft. Unlike fjallraven.

@@Andy-walkaboutnutty I wear their pants from time to time, but in any winter conditions or wet weather they do not perform. You can wax them all you want, you might stay somewhat dry, but the fact that the garment is soaking up so much water and wet out almost immediately.
