Nicholas, I know you are busy, but your son must eat. It has now been almost 4 days since his food timer last went off.

I just took a deep dive into your photo gallery and I am truly amazed at what you’ve captured! The acquisition, combination, processing, framing, and all else must have taken some serious effort and determination to get to that level. I am quite new to astrophotography, and while I think I am learning quickly, I have a long road ahead. This has given me a much needed boost of motivation to keep on going. Keep up the great content!

Tip: I tried it out with Asteroid 84342 (rubensdeaze) but it didnt appeared on the "Search". In the Search Window I went to List instead and then Asteroids in the Scroll down menu and the search from there.

I need to find how to use EZ Decon with Starnet2 (Starnet++ is nowhere to be found). I get those horrible rings you mention.
@leftysastrophotography
@leftysastrophotography 2 жыл бұрын
You'll want to run starnet 2 first to make a star mask. Then hit undo on your image, and import the raw star mask under the masking tab in EZ decon, and tweak it using the tools within the script. For mine I'll usually just do STF > convolve > dilate > boost, but your star masks may need different ordered/additional tweaking
@YTMegiddo
@YTMegiddo 2 жыл бұрын
@@leftysastrophotography yup, that's what I've been doing, but the star rings are terrible. Even ignoring them I'm not seeing what decon is doing. So I've been skipping that step. But oh man you've turned around my imaging... Thank you

What about linear fit of Ha, SII and OIII before integration ?
@EpoNandrolone

I guess that since the channels are combined while non linear, it's the Screen Transfer Function that does the job
@redabdab

this is fantastic! Thanks so much! So you don't run EZ Denoise on the other channels then? Only the one you are going to use as luminance. Why is that?

Beautiful picture! A nice way to keep some green I think is to extract a luminance and put it on as an inverted (or maybe not inverted, don’t remember) mask and the SCNR it. It keeps the green more in some places but removes it in others. I quite like it, because you can get the “rainbow effect” without adding stuff that isn’t there! I only do it on star exterminated pictures though. I haven’t tried it on a picture with stars!

New to PI - would this guide be suitable for any LRGB data such as for the M42 nebula?
@leftysastrophotography
@leftysastrophotography 2 жыл бұрын
For the most part, yes. You'll probably want to do some L deconvolution prior to linear noise reduction, and try fiddling with additional nonlinear processes (local histogram equalization, HDR multiscale transform, more curves, etc)

Excellent video. A help in the min 21:00 of the video, if you drag the identifier of the image on the left over the identifier of the right image you will get the same zoom in both images so that you can compare them.
