Niiice! Back in the 70s, my friend's dad [Jack Kampney] made "The Mummy Machine" *Which I'm sure millions of people are familiar with.. Jack used this same type of system for his prototyping and production.. He used what he referred to as a "Chop Gun" - That was pretty slick.. It mixed and threw the fiberglass/resin combo straight out like a spider web - so coats were Sprayed on vs Coated on.. His shop was So Much Fun! Anyways.. Your method rocks! I've used the foam/hot-blade method for building RC delta wings.. *I think this method is probably better.. *I was initially taught having to carve clay.. Easy to work with but creates more of a mess.

It seems that if you purchased some brake cleaner spray, it would dissolve all of the styrofoam without hurting the fiberglass, so it is an easy way to seperate the two.

Maybe you’ve left out a great deal of your dimensioning method, but I’m failing to see how this anything more than a very good free-hand semblance of the original. The window templates are the only possible dimensionally accurate check I’m seeing.

I once helped my dad carved a giant 10 foot diameter pepsi bottle caps from styrofoam and even bigger jumbo jet cockpit, it's in the early 80's, he probably the first one using hot wire cutters and airbrush to do large scale 3d styrofoam promotional props in my country. I always thought my dad is some kind of McGiver-y dude. Miss him.

Amazing work from both of you! It's videos like yours that make me miss being a fabricator. Nowadays I still build stuff but my medium has changed from metals to code. One of the biggest things I miss about welding/fabricating is being able to hold or touch the finished product and that special sense of accomplishment that comes with building something from raw materials with your bare hands. I'm happy I stumbled across your channel and I've subscribed. Thanks for posting all your videos that I can live vicariously through your work. Cheers fellas.

Are Aston Martin aware that your client is faking an Aston Martin car on the race track ? He can't just build a car and then put a fibre glass Aston Martin body over it. (Unless he is Chinese in China) but listening to the accent it's in South Africa. You should be talking about a mold and not about a car because all you are making is a shell look alike of an existing car. 25:48 - Fibre glass matting and woven fibre glass is .... wait for it ..... fibre glass and has absolutely NOTHING to do with carbon fibre apart from the fact that it is woven. 35:00 - "Doing it this way makes it EVEN STRONGER than Carbon Fibre" ?????????? ...... I think you need to take a visit to your doctor and then go to your local engineering school with your samples and ask them for a full explanation about the qualities of fibre glass and polyester chopped, woven etc. and then ask about Carbon fibre. First things first. Carbon fibre is strong when used with EPOXY resin. It is NOT used with polyester resin. Ask the tech school why. I've seen and heard enough BS here, but nice body shell. Well done. It looks very good.

I'm impressed, but also this method is incredibly wasteful in time and in materials. I'd have made that outer shell into a mold, where you can have a much better surface finish on the final piece that is the exact dimensions of the "plug" (what you called a mold). Plus you should have used a release agent before applying your cloth and resin, the hours and hours spent with knives and scrapers would have been more than halved. Still very impressed with your end result, but its going to take a lot of hours in finishing, and please use some breathing protection, polystyrene is not lung friendly.

Take a video about this , The world is now ruled by one community of people, the world Satanic elite, you can also call them the committee to meet the Antichrist and prevent the 2nd coming of Jesus, Trump called them the deep state, at the moment it consists of about 10,000 people, the main ones there are Rockefellers, Rothschilds, Windsors, Baruchs, they, their ancestors, descendants and other people who enter there have the mark of Lucifer, which, if they bring the antichrist and do not allow the 2nd coming, they will receive eternal life after the x hour, and the rest of humanity, for all the time that they have lived, they won't get anything, so all people should know about the existence of a world government (Jesus who was a The Prophet of God, not God.God will send Jesus as a reward to humanity, if humanity deserves it, for this it is necessary to fight Lucifer and his elite)

you didn't do the engine bay.. if I'm not mistaken, the LM F1 had an engine bay lined in 24k gold because BMW has/had a reputation for overheating, and the gold helped to dissipate the heat that came off the engine. I had an inline 6 BMW, and.. you want to talk about a ghost in the machine? i went through the motions, even sought guidance from two different mechanics and still could not find the cause of my overheating problem... at the end of the day it was remedied by constant maintenance and attentive care. could never let the car just sit there and idle. it could be 5 minutes or it could be 45 minutes, or sometimes not at all... all in all it was just about guaranteed to overheat if you just let it run.. but i digress.... damn dude, without the rest of the cars in the garage... that McLaren replica, is an astounding feat in itself.. great job brother. damn nice cars.

You definitely make 💰💰💰💰💰💰 just by selling the body panels. In the United States, a design patent's term is 15 years from the date it's granted if the application was submitted on or after May 13, 2015. If the application was submitted before that date, the term is 14 years. Once the term expires, the patent can't be renewed and it's no longer protected in US courts. During the term, the patent holder can sue anyone who infringes on the patent.

Another way, might be a bit more easy would be to make cross sections out of hard board. Then glue the foam to them until you have the entire car. Next simply run the hot wire bridged over them from the side. The closer the hard board cross sections the more accurate it would be. Note: after I watched the entire video I see why using his method and outcome you would not want to use the hard board cross sections as I suggested above. You could use that method if you intended to use the finished foam car to pull a mold from. He figured a way to actually use the outer fiberglass skin as the simi finished body for the car. I did not expect that but certainly admire it. Though I would want molds of some sort, molds could still be pulled from the finished body sections before before or after mounting on the car chassis. I have a mid 2000 era ASA NASCAR chassis and I am going to hang a 1968 mustang coup body on it because I can't afford a fastback body. Went to the website on those prints and found the car I want, a 1968 fastback mustang. How do you get a full size print? Do you order the one from the website, I see they include multiple file types then have it printed full size locally? looks like they do not offer 1:1 prints.
