Very good informative video, as an IT gyy, disapointed that Garmin gives no info on processor power of its units
@dcbz65968 күн бұрын
Thanks for the useful video. I finished installing the Kraken on my boat yesterday evening. I look forward to using it after the wind settles a bit here. The motor appears to be well built and I look forward to using it. Having said that, it was not an enjoyable install for two reasons. The first reason is not directly related to the Kraken, but to the Garmin mounting plate. The holes for the pins securing the plate that mounts to the motor with the plate that mounts to the deck are not properly aligned on the plate that I received. I had to drill one of them out, an easy task but now the corrosion resistance of the plate set is compromised as the drilling process removed the epoxy coating in that hole set. You touched on the second issue, Garmins choice of using two red positive wires and two black negative wires in the power cord caused me to waste much time to figure out how to connect the cord to the plug that I had. To further complicate the matter, Garmin placed the the two red wires on opposite sides of the cable (when viewed in cross section). They did the same thing with the black wires. Garmin's choice to have four power wires instead of one red wire and one black wire will make it difficult for the average DIYer to wire the cord in a way that looks good and won't cause potentially bad connections. That issue alone will cause me to not recommend the Kraken to any of my friends as I think that the issue might pose a danger to DIYers that don't get good, secure connections between the cord and the plug due to Garmin's choice of power cord. Shame on Garmin for putting that power cord on a motor that costs so much.

Do you know if UHD2 Wireless Networking can be turned OFF to reduce the Amp draw? Wireless networking is useless when ice fishing, Amp draw on the other hand is critical for ice fishing..
@MGMarineTech11 күн бұрын
I would imagine the amp draw from the wireless networking would be VERY minimal especially if not networked to anything else.
@joef250411 күн бұрын
@@MGMarineTech How is the UHD2 almost 3x the amp draw vs the UHD1? Resolution increase can't account for that much?
@MGMarineTech11 күн бұрын
@ I don’t have a accurate answer for that, but I would imagine processing power and different components would account for most of that. The “typical amp draw” is only 0.72 amp higher on the uhd2 vs the uhd. I would imagine just the increased processing power would account for most of that.
@joef250411 күн бұрын
@@MGMarineTech I hear ya, 3x just seems excessive...
@MGMarineTech11 күн бұрын

Anyone have comparison on the 73sv uhd vs 93svuhd2? It has more pixels but also bigger screen. Which equates to about 13.5k more PPI than 73sv. Can't decide it I wanna upgrade, is it alot more crisp?

No nmea network is needed. You will simply need a “Ethernet” style network cable as shown in this video. As far as the mapping. Once the 93 is networked to the 126 the 126 will see the map card.
