Every move she makes in this scene is pure seduction.

I like that SHE asked out to dinner instead the other way around. Usually men are expected to make the first move.

Jennifer Connelly is the only girl who literally has a face that should be covered because it's more sexually attractive then any nude body part.

I realized this scene was another hint at his schizophrenia because when she enters the room she doesn’t look at the guard because he’s not there and she’s the one who actually closed the door.

For John to compliment anyone, is a huge show of respect. He could've said her solution was many things, but he chose to use "elegant." We as the audience will never know what she wrote, but John calling someone else's attempt to solve something he wrote "elegant" is a huge leap forward to him understanding that she had a lot of guts and bravery. Rarely in the movie is John impressed by anyone, but Alicia was one of the few people on campus who could. John also wasn't condescending when addressing Alicia and discussing her possible solution, in his own way he admired it.

Best scene in the movie. I don't know how she does it, but if you hadn't already fallen in love with Connelly's character in the window scene, you definitely do here. So much depth of character behind that giggly, shy demeanor, as she challenges herself to draw an equally shy man out of his shell for half a minute. Way to take the initiative Alicia.
