@Zephromonia2 жыл бұрын
It is funny because it doesn't even make sense. A vector field is a set of vectors. Vectors are not functions, but rather objects that obey some axioms (for example they have associative addition, which means you can change the order of evaluation of operators like + and * and it wont change the outcome). They are NOT functions. In any case, a rational function would be one that has a purely rational output, i.e it cant output an irrational number like pi or 2^(1/2). It would be surprising to find such a function in the context of vector fields since vectors are most commonly used in fields such as Physics or Engineering in which irrational numbers crop up all the time - for example the length of a vector with position (1,1) is (1^2 + 1^2)^(1/2) = (2)^(1/2) - an irrational number! This doesn't take away from his sublime acting however :).

For John to compliment anyone, is a huge show of respect. He could've said her solution was many things, but he chose to use "elegant." We as the audience will never know what she wrote, but John calling someone else's attempt to solve something he wrote "elegant" is a huge leap forward to him understanding that she had a lot of guts and bravery. Rarely in the movie is John impressed by anyone, but Alicia was one of the few people on campus who could. John also wasn't condescending when addressing Alicia and discussing her possible solution, in his own way he admired it.

I know its sound kinda lame but if you are a fan of 80's music check it out and let me know your thoughts! kzbin.info/www/bejne/jKLQf35oabehfdk
