I think you're right. A current, fresh start server would be a low cost, low effort, low risk - high (potential) reward. Also, I believe they'd do so much better having 1 pre-AOS era classic server and 1 post-AOS era classic server instead of whatever they're doing now.. Who is New Legacy for? I'm willing to bet that most people who roll on New Legacy will fall into 1 of 2 groups: The first being current players looking for a change of pace. They may go back & forth between live servers and NL but most likely won't put a ton of time into it. The second group of players will be those looking for that classic era UO which they, sadly, won't find and will stop playing within a week or 2. I think they've really dropped the ball here with New Legacy. Current & former players have been asking for classic servers for years and they give us.... Whatever this is..

Every old school UO players i've seen try it have been like you; straining their face and trying SO HARD to be positive about New Legacy. Everyone wants it to succeed, but man xD hand-holding quests & dailies is the very antithesis of what open-world, sandbox old school RPGs are about. Like you said, who's the target audience here???????

I'm an actual brand new player who tried the new plater experience. Upon spawning into the world, you are told to talk to an NPC who then asks you which "house" you want to join, with no context or descriptions, or explanations to guide you. Did I choose the right house, or the wrong one, or does it even matter? Who knows. Still not friendly or inviting to start this game as a new player. I have no desire to research 20 years worth of information on a game just to learn how to play it if the game cant just tell me in the game.

A classic server would bring back players, that's indisputable. To keep those players they would need to bring the client up to speed with freeshards, have new content with classic server rules. That means new cosmetics for houses, town invasions, events and story arcs like they did in 97-98. Outlands obviously has already done this (maybe not town invasions) and it has been very successful for several years. Ultimately this is what they need to do, new legacy isn't meant for people looking for a classic experience, it's for runescape seasons players who like UO but don't like newer clients for whatever reason. If there's enough players that want exactly that? Well it will succeed.. otherwise? I'm not so sure.

idk man, even if they released a classic experience at this point, yeah you might see a short lived tidal wave. people coming back for 1-2 months (at best) for a quick nostalgia hit, but when there are other options that exist in the private server world (won't name it) with over 3000 active players and UO already re-imagined with great improvements and actual progression with staying power beyond the typical, gm skills, get a house, go pvp. it's going to be a tough uphill battle for Broadsword. If this is their last hail mary.....it's over imo. appreciate the comprehensive overview though

I like the quests but would be nice if important story pieces were narrated. Yearly resets is a dope idea with temporary account bound titles for all shards announcing the top 3 richest players (gold coin), top pvpers (kills / dmg delt), top pvmers (kills / dmg delt), top crafters (bods filled / rss collected). Having a long running competition would make it easy to find bots main accounts too.

just came back to uo after a 10 year break, UNDERWATER has been very lucrative, I am averaging about 1 plat a week out of it.

So one thing I want to add on here. When it comes to smaller shards a lot of this is very hard to do. Often there is no one doing shadow guard roof or under water dungeon. It's hard to find a group that plays regularly and if you are new its VERY hard to get in with the established guilds. There's usually some kind of paranoia and aversion to outsiders, so it's difficult if not impossible to have a group to play with. This typically leaves high seas, seasonal events, and turn in points as the main money making method. Especially if vendors can't make sales and new mag is barren. Just some advice for anyone playing a low pop shard.

Build a gold vacuum macro in Enhanced Client and suction that shit up off the ground on roof and in champ spawns. It may not seem like much on prodo, but it adds up quickly over time and the only cost is charges from your bag of sending. Adds an extra 90 seconds to each finish if you're slow, but it makes a huge difference over hundreds of each. :)

I will link your videos in my guild's(largest in game) discord we get a lot of new players that need gold farming ideas. We do roof a min of 3 times a week and Medusa and Scalis.

Is antlantic a paid server? How is the pop on there? How does one join it? Do they use ClassicUO Client?

UO looks way different for me to even go back and try it on the real servers. I can just imagine the hours of grinding that I i dont have time for. I used to play 1997-2002 I played it the real way but I wished I cheated with the bugs and glitches but oh well. I played a couple of months of the free servers like Renaissance and T2A and it still had the usual problems that made the game a lite unfair like the ghost in the cave and PKing someone once they go in. Which isnt the way it was back in the day. Then the population dropped on both servers especially T2A server which im sure you played. Then I tried Outlands when it was hot and was sitting there trying to macro and the server would crash and I stopped, I didnt even try Outlands, I liked the idea but for some odd reason it wasn't for me and I dont know why. I went back and read the forums and heard about how people couldn't progress because there was an area constantly bombarded by PKs and I get it, its part of the game but if people cant get passed a point because other people were there first I get it. I think they did something about it, but it does take the fun of it. But a huge turn off that I read is that there isn't houaing available and they did this weird rent a room thing and the thought of painfully not being able to get a small house anywhere sort of turned me off from it and so I never really tried it. Too much of a grind. Though I do miss it though.

I played. I was Snow White for 12+ years until WOW came out and I started Teaching again. I stood by the Bank and dyed clothes and rode my white magic Unicorn around the forest Resurrecting & Healing players and collecting regents for elixirs. I had a Castle & Keep and was a Legendary Player and had an Internet Page to my character as one of the most epic characters of all time on UO. Ever-
