Thank you for the lesson, Gary. I have a vw polo 1.4. CLP engine. The fan does not swing once the temperature switch sensor is plugged in. But it runs perfectly once the switch is unplugged. Unfortunately, for now, the fan stopped working completely. I tried taking it to mechanics, but they are failing to fix it. Please advise.

hi sir my chev utility bakkie is misfiring . i have taken it to service and they say that its the piston rings need to be replaced aswell as the cambelt and v belt . i have changed the spark plugs which are brand new . whats your advice , could it be the piston rings the reason its misfiring and using so much petrol ? and also to add on of my rockers ( the first one has broken ) and will also be replaced . any advice as to why its misfiring thank you

Ever diesel also has one, and the modern ones are electric drive as well, with a motor powering them. Still, for some reason, mounted on the engine itself.

It could be the tappets need to be reset. ( valve clearances, inlet 0.10mm - 0.15mm cold/exhaust 0.25mm - 0.30mm cold ) good luck I hope you come right.

It could be over fuelling due to a gunk build-up in the throttle body, try cleaning with some carb spray.

I have that often, it takes one to cut the CV joint with an angle grinder to get it off, but it is a bummer when all you want to do is replace the boot only, once cut the CV joint needs to be replaced.

Yes, they do on most diesel motors and some petrol motors too that is why it is necessary to replace the pump when you do the cam belt and visa/versa. Can you please make a video on how to diagnose issues with drum brakes and handbreak cables. I once adjusted our Toyota Conquest drum breaks but it only lasted for a few weeks. The pads seemed fine but I suspect it could be something with the cable. I would really appreciate your input on drum brakes (tips and tricks). Dankie

It could be a faulty oil pressure switch, or the oil pressure is low (oil pump worn), sometimes when the idling is too low the oil light could also come on. That is usually due to one of the oxygen sensors being faulty or dirty, try cleaning it with carb cleaner, if it persists have a diagnostic test done, so you can know which fault code is being generated.
