A lot of the controllers like the one you used have a "brake" output. Would that work to turn the stock pedal into a brake without having to add the relay?

No, all that connector does is cut power so the mechanical brakes actual stop the vehicle.

I found some 775 motors that are only 12000 rpms are those gonna be fast or do I need higher rpm

Stock is 16000 on 12 volts so it depends on what voltage. Probably slower but more torque

@CustomKidzCars I was going to run the 12,000 RPM 12 volt motors on 24 volts so I was expecting it to go closer to the 16,000

It's about the HP or wattage. Not the RPM's. Motor with double the rated RPM will have half the torque assuming the same wattage.

does the variable speed pedal ramp (soft start) the motor up the volt range to max setting and down the volts back to zero as you let off.. while the potentiometer your using basically limits/defines what max is?

@@CustomKidzCars thought so... will use mine most via a remote- it wont be kids ride on.. but haul medical equipment etc and tools (it has a remote). will see if it has any soft start / ramp up ability with the remote. hope so. (Ive not put it together yet)

Will have soft start but not variable speed and your steering will suck as it's just a gearbox without self centering.

@@CustomKidzCars honestly thought remote would use Tank Steer method so it would be easy for parent to use remote to cancel out young kid riders steer input*.. Then discovered it has a motor on the steering column to turn the front wheels that way. Thus remote actually turns front wheels. Your likely right though no return to center. There is no joy stick on remote. BUTT... I might can adapt a different controller with return to center joy stick since I know it is a 2.4mhz controller. orrr... just put some springs on rig somehow that will pull it back to center. *it's a 24v (4wd) 6x6. two front tires steer. rear four tires each have 24v motors. I'll strip body to minimum. cut parts of body off to put on a basket. fill parts with spray foam to stiffen unibody if I lose some by cutting things off . Will put tread on rear 4 wheels orrr maybe with a tire tread from small car tire, make pair of tracks. Put one track around each side's pair tires. End result it would be a Half Track type thing. @@CustomKidzCars what is difference between softstart and variable speed? is it "softstart" is more of an "preprogrammed ramping up/down of voltage/speed" ? While a [Variable speed pedal] is "variated/ramping of voltage/speed via your foot / pedal interaction

For replacement parts or Decals where could I look? I found some parts like steering wheel and buttons. Just picked one up used for my daughter and it needs decals since they are beat up by the sun.

This is perfect for what I have in mind: taking Kid Trax, or Power wheels and turning them fully RC, Dash cam's and all. it'll be a step up from working with 1/16th RC New Bright stuff, trust me it's a headache.

Forgive me if this is obvious, but why not just the 2 positive to the positive battery terminal and 2 negatives to the negative terminal? Why do all these extra steps?

Because it will short out. These models are wired differently. Test your option out and let me know what happens. I would use a fuse fyi

@chedisme the short answer is, power goes to the motors first instead of the switches. Basically, this setup is opposite of a normal system. So flipping harness feeds power from the old motor wires to the switches now.

I have two LifePo4 batteries, Basen Green 11.7kWh 51.2V (BG), and Ecoflow Delta pro - inverter 48V 3.6kWh (DP). I use BG to charge a DP battery via XT60 solar input (400W 8A). With the DP application, it is not possible to set the BG not to be completely discharged? Would be such adjustable 48V DC Over and Under Voltage Monitoring Protection Relay suitable for my batteries, so that voltage limit (under 51V) will stop charging DP from BG battery?

Do you use the 635 or the 609 low voltage protection model? Iv seen a few videos saying one if them dosn't save the settings and needs to be reset every time its powered up. Cant work out which one saves the settings when disconnected from the battery, as i dont want to have to reset this each time . Cheers.

Great video . Is there a reason you used the key for forward and reverse instead of the stock shifter . Is the voltage too high hence cause melting of 3 pin shifter

Exactly, switches melt because they are only rated for 15 amps. The key is actually a switch for the relay

@@CustomKidzCars I like the video . Want to try keep the shifter so might use an automotive relay to do heavy lifting and activate trigger wire using stock shifter . I do like how u have kept it all simple though and pot is a genius move to limit top speed .

Could you use a drill motor. Like bauer or dewalt 20v? If so i then would rig the battery base in it that fits the drill, and you could just run every h I gh output correct battery.. im just wondering because im in awe of this idea.. soooo much room to grow.. we can eventually build us electric mini racers. My issue is 30 amp fuse blows when I ride power wheel and I am small I just meet weight requirement at 130 but works fine for my daughter why is that? Can I just bypass fuse? Or can I up the fuse size to 40 or 50 amp fuse?

One question please, I have bought a car for my son and I changed the motors, I put in higher revs. my problem is that it works for 15 seconds and then it turns off by itself and turns on after 5 seconds. this happens constantly. it had a 12v battery 4.5Ah and I put a new 12v 9Ah one but it still does the same thing. Do you know what the problem is? Can you help me?

Most of the battery's have a resettable fuse sounds like your drawing too much current the fuse is stopping the car and then your waiting (*shoud hear a click) when it resets and your going again. TLDR - you need to have a battery with a bigger fuse to allow the increase in current to the higher power motor.

Would any one be able to share what the original controller controls? Referring to the first black controller shown. I recently did a 20V upgrade and it sounded like a capacitor popped but I feel like everything still works. Any help would be appreciated by my 3 and 1 year olds.

Cut the wiring on the tractor and add a main switch instead. Then just leave it permanently attached and add a charge port. A lot of those trickle chargers have an optional panel charge port to install on f.ex motorcycles.

That's why I have been using Ryobi batteries. Not only is that what my drill & saw use, I also found that the low voltage protection circuitry is built into the battery. I looked up which battery brands had built-in circuitry, and I was happy to find that out.

Why not pop in like a few ordinary car batteries. Like 2x 45ah or something? Why keep playing with all these tiny batteries in these things. A bit of weight in the rear is probably not a bad idea

@Zachry86 car batteries is designed for starting and getting charged by the alternator. Deep Cycle would work but are huge and heavy. These are just kids toys.

Still on the fence if I'm going the "Peg perego" ride on route or the "other" style units. Thanks for all your content on these units. Really good idea with the resistor on the electronic brake!
