Hi! My Makita Duh651 keeps stalling after 2 seconds. Lubrication doesn't help. I'm always up for solving mechanical problems myself so I'd love to see the part 1 video but can't seem to find it on your channel. Can you point me to the part 1 video? Or do you have troubleshooting tips? Thanks!
I agree with you, it really is a piece of crap. Had better results with a husqvarna gas mower ...

Good review. What happened to the 18 volt trimmer one that kept breaking 3rd one in from the right with tilting handle, I think it was your 3rd best choice, said you had to send it back twice? I need the 24 or 30 inch 18 volt, trying to decide but need one reliable, was the warranty easy? Someone said on Amazon they didn't warranty a Makita one. 3yr warranty on them I think? Thanks
@yorkshiresnumero2gardener2443 ай бұрын
I still use it. Warranty a bit of pain to register online for the 3 year. I expect it will break again! I quite often use the 36 v split shaft but a smaller one is necessary for close up work. The split shaft not practical for small stuff and close up, example - narrow hedge tops off step ladders

What breakdowns have you had with the handheld unit? Pretty much use my DUN 500 all the time and rarely use my handheld
@yorkshiresnumero2gardener2445 ай бұрын
@@bidders77 the dun 500 is pretty good ( might have stopped working once??). It's the duh502 that keeps failing. On my second machine, they've both been for several repairs something electronic I think- working fine then a rapid decline and won't start the blades... I'd still recommend one though- I prefer it for fine trimming -:leylandii especially. The dun 500 more of an all rounder- privet, laurel, etc
@bidders775 ай бұрын
@@yorkshiresnumero2gardener244 yeah ive had the 500 for about 4 years now, also been in for repairs... gotta love the 3 year warranty! Not always come back completely fixed but they have got it right in the end. Had to buy a second unit to cope with the repair time ...7 times to get the head locking/head slipping sorted.

That's the older version you have there, Makita listened to their customers and the ones now (DUR368) spins counter-clockwise like petrol trimmers. I've got the DUR368AZ and it's a fantastic piece of kit, works as a line trimmer and brush cutter too.

What model Makita Strimmer do you have, because here in Australia we have a Makita model DUR368LZ 36v which looks exactly like the one in your video except it spins in an anti-clockwise direction.
@briand46135 ай бұрын
He's definitely got one of the older machines, as the one I have (DUR368AZ) is same as yours but with the bike handle instead, and it definitely spins counter-clockwise. It's a great piece of kit.

@@briand4613 The bike handle model is great for cutting grass and also using as a brush cutter but the bike handle makes it difficult if you want to do some lawn edging because you can't hold the trimmer at the correct angle because of the bike handle configuration.
@briand46135 ай бұрын
@@memyselfandi6422 yeah, bike handle not great for lawn edging, but for what I use it for it’s mainly brush and some grass, so loop handle isn’t great for me.

Beware the DUX60 head with 2 x 6AMP batteries and this EN401MP attachment are very heavy! I had to trim about 20-25m long hedge (only one side and top) and my hands were already falling off half way through it hence had to look for the strap as otherwise would not be able to finish. You really have to had very strong hands or use strap from the start. I had to use a corded cheap hedge trimmer because about 85% into the job my 5 year old batteries finished. Apart from that the combo is superb quality and performance! However, I might just get the slightly lighter EN410MP for trimming sides or another dedicated lighter corded trimer and keep the EN401MP for trimming hedge tops and anything that would normally require a ladder.
