Hello- I regularly use the top handle saws for tree work. The hedge cutters I use often also. The only cordless tools I think are not very good are the strimmers/trimmers. Underpowered and run time off battery is not good. So battery yes with petrol strimmer and petrol mowers. However not suitable for working in wet weather👍. The hedge trimmers don't have the power of petrol but much nicer to work with regards no exhaust fumes and mostly lower vibes on the handles. Battery cost is high though- Get 5ah or 6ah- at least 4 maybe...

No m8 these makita hedge trimmers are well known for breaking down . They are rubbish for the price. Mine broke down after less than 30 hours use . Knackered bearings and rotor arm . Do a bit research and you will see loads of people having bother with these . They are nice to use but they are built out of cheese . For a buisness definately not but if for home use you might get a few year out of it because hedges might only get a few trims per year

@@peterpipe9015 To be fair I agree to some extent- I have had a few malfunction. But with the 3 year warranty I think they are worth it if you shop around and get a good deal. List prices are way too high. Without the 3 year warranty I would agree. Prob starting out I would get Shindaiwa petrol strimmer. Reason I use cordless is after 30 years of work - older machines have caused carpal tunnel, etc.

Curious what thickness roughly you think the DUN500W would cut through? Looking for a hedge cutter with the extended reach, your other video of the DUN461 was useful as that didn't seem to go through thicker stuff and seemed quite plastic made. The DUN600 option doesn't allow you to pivot the angle of the head so rules that out for me. Also seems you have had a few issues with the DUN500 which is a bit off putting.

I think the dun 500 prob cuts 5-10mm max. So long as it is fairly new growth 1-2 years old. Any thicker and i think it might strain it- think motor senses when to stop. I will do a cutting vid when get round to it...
