The euphonium solo flows well on the fingers. It’s mostly valves 1 & 2. Enter valve 3 during/after the huge chromatic run. ✌️

I just think of it as mini scales and that sets my mind at ease, but you're right it's the slurring that's the taxing part.

Okay, but like, why does it sound perfectly okay at 0.75x speed, but then at full tempo, it was like, "hey, you wanna try something fun?" and then proceeded to add 50 beats to the tempo?

Depending on marches, I would conduct a decent march tempo (108 or 120bpm), if I was a band director

Keep in mind euphonium were kinda in a experimental stage in 1910. Things like double bells were around I don't think most Americans used compensating horns

Sureshot274, I was a euphonium player in middle and high school. Got a few awards, the whole shebang. Concert band will always be a part of me. Having said that, you're right. there needs to be more cool euphonium-centered pieces. Check out some of James Curnow (Symphonic Variants).

I played the tenor sax in my high school band and I'd swipe a treble clef baritone part frequently. I tried this march and went BACK to the tenor part....I just couldn't play it at this tempo.
