Wil this work with a Les Paul? I have a bad back (had surgery years ago) and I cannot play my LP anymore. It’s so heavy and by the end of one set im done and in pain. This strap is really piquing my interest

I'm not so much interested in even distribution of weight. I'm trying to stop "neck dive". Will it work for that, so that when you adjust it for a higher neck position it balances that way? How much range is possible (in inches)?
@DamianErskineBass
@DamianErskineBass 2 ай бұрын
It definitely helps mitigate neck dive a bit. I’m not sure if it would eliminate it all together tho? Kind of depends on how severe it is? When you say range, which direction are you speaking? Just not sure what you mean by range….

How do you memorize all of your music. Ive had a hard time memorizing song even after playing and practicing all the time. I was a professional drummer but stopped playing because I had a hard time memorizing intros and outs so I started playing percussion so I wouldn't be responsible for errors in the beat. I just follow the drummer.

Honestly, I struggle with memorization, too. Aside from repetition, I’ve found that ear training helps. Learning how intervals sound can really help you more deeply feel the root motion of different chord changes.

I have a problem with my left-hand thumb having to push the neck away from my body. I really want to not support the neck at all with my left hand. I would just like it to be a platform for my fretting. I switched to a headless S. Martyn bass to correct this problem, and to some extent it has helped but it doesn't completely alleviate the issue. Would this strap in its many incarnations help? thx

Yes! I have definitely found that the Duo Strap helps to alleviate neck dive in a massive way

Hi I love the idea of the strap. I'm 4 feet 10 with back and shoulder problems. Really happy when it arrived - even happier when I clicked on the very well presented video. Blimey if only you didn't go so fast. I have a Gruvgear duo strap and I have not understood AT ALL how to attach the second strap. HELP please. Thanks in advance.

I watched 30+ videos and read even more internet guides, yet your video is first that actually SHOWS how to play using scales. Other sources beings like: How to pay music with scales? Learn pentatonic scale, yooo😎. Okay, i learned 5 acalea up to date, now what should i do? And thanks to you o finally understand, thanks!
@DamianErskineBass

Glad you found it helpful! I would continue exploring those scales and the music you can make out of them. If you want more, dig into MODES of those scales. Then you'll really know them up and down (plenty of videos explaining what modes are. basically just starting any scale from any note from within the scale. Like, if you're in C Major but play all the notes in C Major but from D up an octave to a high D, 2nd note of the scale up to 2nd note of the scale... that'd be the second mode of C Major. 7 notes in the major scale = 7 modes. Each mode is a little bit different but there just all modes built from C major (or whatever scale you start with)

Man you’d make a piece of twig and a rubber band sound good but this bass is really really nice and passive too,the neck pickup sounds perfect for Dub/Reggae music.I saw on a Nick Rolfe page a band with you him and Tyrone Hendrix..would love to know/hear some more about it if possible ( late to the comment game .😁)

You sound just like yourself Damian, wonderful as always :) Question: Why a 5 rather than a 6?
@DamianErskineBass
@DamianErskineBass Жыл бұрын
I’ve always played either a 4 or a 6 but a 6 just doesn’t feel right to me in certain contexts. I actually prefer the way I tend to play on a 4 but, especially for funk, soul, etc.. I really miss that lower register. A 5 seemed like the best of both worlds (and it turns out that I really do prefer a 5 for many things). Feels more like a 4 to me but with that lower register. I kinda fell in love with this thing. I haven’t played any of my other basses since!
