Hey Damian. Franklin here... Love the sound - especially with the thumb and tapewounds. Awesome!... I would have liked to hear you play with the tone knobs a bit. While I love that sound in general, sometimes something with a little more highs might serve the music....just curious.

Man you’d make a piece of twig and a rubber band sound good but this bass is really really nice and passive too,the neck pickup sounds perfect for Dub/Reggae music.I saw on a Nick Rolfe page a band with you him and Tyrone Hendrix..would love to know/hear some more about it if possible ( late to the comment game .😁)

Do you pay full price for Pete’s basses? If not what kind of discount do u get?
@jasonarchimandritis11832 жыл бұрын
Sounds amazing! I'm curious what kind of tapes are these? I also have a headless 5 string and i wanted to put La Bella's on it, but they say their strings can't be cut (except on the silk wrap) so they can't be used on headless. Any problems cutting the string after clamping them down?
@DamianErskineBass2 жыл бұрын
Those are D’Addarios. I’m not sure they are meant to be snipped either and was worried about them unraveling. I threw a pair of nickel strings in my gig bag just in case but 2 months in and they’re fine!

You sound just like yourself Damian, wonderful as always :) Question: Why a 5 rather than a 6?
@DamianErskineBass2 жыл бұрын
I’ve always played either a 4 or a 6 but a 6 just doesn’t feel right to me in certain contexts. I actually prefer the way I tend to play on a 4 but, especially for funk, soul, etc.. I really miss that lower register. A 5 seemed like the best of both worlds (and it turns out that I really do prefer a 5 for many things). Feels more like a 4 to me but with that lower register. I kinda fell in love with this thing. I haven’t played any of my other basses since!

Bonsoir Damian, quel type de corde utilises tu? 30- 130 ?
@DamianErskineBass2 жыл бұрын
Those tape wounds only come in one size and, yeah... I think they are 30-130..? :) I usually use medium light strings (nickel), when I'm not using the tape-wounds
@tomgreenleaf19182 жыл бұрын
Magnificent. I wish boomers who think "that don't look right" would stop dominating the guitar market so we can finally make headless the norm. It's just objectively superior in every metric.
@abbeyna012 жыл бұрын
Why did you stop making videos???
@DamianErskineBass2 жыл бұрын
I’ve never made videos all that consistently and honestly, I’ve just been way too busy this summer. I’ll likely get back to it this winter when the gigs slow down a bit.
@crapadopalese2 жыл бұрын
It has a great sound, but I wouldn't deem it as "extremely versatile".
