Congratuations on the domino! Can you share the plans on how you made the loose tenon jig you have been using? Or can I have it since you now have a domino, lol??

I don't know if it's the music or the way these videos are filmed (probably both), but I find them very relaxing. You make it look effortless, but I feel furniture like this is very hard to get right. They came up beautifully. I love how the armrests bend around the back with the brass supports. A testament to your skill and patience.

My trim router did the same thing some time ago. I think it was the soft-start circuit that went bad and the replacement board isn't anywhere to be found in new-old-stock, even though it's not that old. Oh well. designed obsolescence.

For home brewing I have used the aero press for atleast 10 years and will never go back. Home roasting is also very easy with a whirlypop. Very interested in the new oxo rapid Brewer. Always happy to see your charming vlogs.

I use carbon method on my table saw. It is a great ceramic coating that protects the top and they have a spray bottle called carbon glide to keep it slick. I use it on all my cast iron tools. It has lasted a while. You may want to look into it. Also if you are using hard wax oil for finishes you may want to look into black tails ceramic coating for table tops. It is awesome. I have had it on a side table with a cookie top also for about a year and have been abusing it intentionally. Still looks great and the sheen is awesome. Just a woodworker sharing my experience. Life is good!!

Thanks for sharing! I’d heard of that product but totally forgot about it, haha. I knew Blacktail Studio used a nano finish, but didn’t realize it was ceramic coating too! definitely going to check it out. Thanks a ton! ☺️

@@jennsmistake I got the products at different times. The interesting thing is they both come out of the same factory in Michigan. 🙂 But the Blacktail stuff puts an awesome sheen over the hardwax finish. Just brings the durability to the next level. Happy woodworking!

When I was a wee lad I remember building myself a couple of ramps to practice my jumping skills because I was really into racing bmx at the time. The wood I was using was just scrap we had laying around the garage but my father trusted me enough to allow me to use some of his tools (most notably the circular saw) and I have to admit that my ramps came out really well and lasted me for years (much to the chagrin of my parents who feared for my life and limb lol). Anyway, during the construction of said ramps I was getting lazy towards the end of my build and wasn't paying as much attention as I should have been and after one of my cuts the power cord somehow got caught between the blade and the guard and it severed itself. In a mild panic I took the saw apart to be able to get at the beginning of the wiring in order to replace it and that my friend was what started me down the lifelong path of being interested in and developing skills in mechanical, building and crafting trades. I'm so happy and impressed that you - fixed your router (and used a bearing puller!), did your wiring for the table saw, and reworked your new to you dust collection system. On a coffee note, I used to frequent Gorilla Coffee but have since moved to a different neighborhood but I still get their beans online (they roast their own). You can also find their beans at Whole Foods. So strong (and tasty) it'll grow hairs of your chest hence the name lol. I recommend you give them a try! Be well Jenn, thanks for sharing as always :)

It’s awesome that you got to work with tools and do woodworking from such a young age! My grandfather was a carpenter, but he never let me touch his tools, haha. If I’d had a chance like yours, maybe I would’ve started woodworking earlier too 🤔. Thanks for the compliments! I always doubt whether I can handle new challenges, but when I need to, I somehow make it work (even if it’s not perfect, haha). I’ve never heard of Gorilla Coffee, but I’ll check it out if it’s at Whole Foods. Thanks for the recommendation, and I appreciate you always dropping by to comment. Hope you’re doing well! ☺️

While I will miss seeing you come up with clever woodworking solutions and work arounds, I’m glad to see your tool collection expanding to a Domino, Jointer and planer. Your videos and the techniques you show are really a joy to watch. At first I thought you were making those frames to sell in your store, but I’m assuming they were all for your house. Lovely work. Do you adapt the width of the piece to the blade width so you don't end up with one fragile mini-finger on the end?
@jennsmistake
@jennsmistake 3 ай бұрын
I didn’t adjust the width of the piece to match the blade. Luckily, the end finger ended up being about the same size as the blade width. If I get a mini or thick finger at the end, I’d probably adjust the piece’s width because I like all the fingers to be the same size. 🤔

Good to see you again Jenn! I'm curious... Now that you've made a business out of your small home shop (that's apparently grown to include a jointer AND a Festool domino - no more router jig shenanigans for you - do you now feel some sort of pressure to complete your projects within a certain schedule as opposed to when you're building for yourself? Frames came out stunning, love the subtle chamfers. Be well :)
