At the beginning of the video the metal arm in the bottom right corner has three bolt holes that is where the motor goes on the arm. At about 7:15 I bolt the motor back to the arm. At 9 minutes I give a quick run through of the mounting points in the door.

@AW_DIY_garage
@AW_DIY_garage Жыл бұрын
What I saw when I was doing the FDM printing for this, the needle really should be resin or made of something else to get the right level of rigidity while also being small and dainty. My needle is the least favorite part of this because I just couldn't get it to perfectly match the original parts as well. I hope someone volunteers to print for you. I would suggest looking into a lathe and metal replacement.

Just used it two weeks ago to teach my son to drive a manual transmission car. Then took it to a car show a few days later. No projects on the car itself in over a year just driving it every once in a while. I moved and started a new job that is keeping me out of the garage, and the time I do get has been spent working on the others in the fleet.

Too bad I didn't watch this video before changing our motor. We completely removed the window unnecessarily. Love that you have a Datsun 510 in the background. I hope the driver's door is ok after banging the Figaro door into it. I also have a Datsun, a 240Z I've owned from new. A point to make, is to use JIS screwdrivers. You could have avoided mangling the "Phillips" head screw.

Aaron, in episode 10 you transferred the 1600 oil pan and oil pickup to the L20b engine.what was the reason for this? I'm having hood clearance problems on my 71 wagon.
@AW_DIY_garage
@AW_DIY_garage Жыл бұрын
It was because of the interference that the truck pan and oil pickup would cause with the front cross member. If I remember correctly the L20b is in fact taller than the L16. So shorter mounts might be in order. When the new engine went in it was a bit farther forward if I remember correctly, because I didn't have as much clearance between engine and radiator

Hello- this video has been really helpful for me as I have replaced the motor in an attempt to get my window working again! Turns out it was a faulty relay which I have now fixed but when I installed the window regulator and motor again the window moved but then it went too far down (teeth of the regulator quarter gear went beyond the end). Is there a sensor or something I need to reset so the motor knows when to stop working?
@AW_DIY_garage

It has been a bit since I did the work. I seem to recall that happening to me. It was because the motor got installed with the regulator (armature scissor thing) was slightly to far. In the travel so it missed its stop. I had to take the motor off, reset the regulator and then it stopped when it was supposed to.
