Datsun 280zx 5-speed Trans Rebuild (Datsun 510 Ep 79)

I got the 5-speed pulled apart. I started doing some of the checks on the transmission.

You have the l20b bolted to 280zx transmission?

@@122amazonls5 It has been a few years if I remember correctly, you may have to ensure you match the flywheel and clutch with the throw-out bearing but yes it was a direct bolt together.

Hey Aaron, thanks for the video. I’m in the same process as you…but at 5:00, what was it getting stuck on? I can’t get my rear case off. Thanks!

I was being pretty gentle at first, it needed a bit more force, but the striker rod was hanging up on stuff. Remove the stoppers, and make sure to rotate the rod out of the gear selector area. Also make sure to remove all pins and locks on the tail shaft. Also I had to do almost a full 90 degree rotation to get it off.

What fluid did you put back in it?

I put Redline MT80 I believe. I have it in the garage I will check to make sure here in a bit.
