I love it! I'm scared of the stove top ones. You have to watch too closely to maintain proper pressure.

Hi Kim, I’m a seasoned canner - been doing it for at least 20 years. I’m with you - I prefer hot packing most vegetables. If you raw pack, you put less product in the jars and it all floats to the tops of the jars and don’t look as pretty and not as full.

I’m so glad you did this video! I’ve thought pressure canning looked too complicated to try, but this digital canner seems less scary to me. I’m going to add it to my Amazon wishlist and maybe I’ll work up the courage to try it. Ha! When you freeze your beans, do you just blanch them and then put them in a freezer bag? With liquid or not? Thanks, Kim!
@HangingwithKim
@HangingwithKim 3 сағат бұрын
I don't blanch the beans when I put them in the freezer. It's just a quick way to store until I have enough to can. Then, I blanch. Great questions!

Hi Kim, You are always motivating to me; thank you so much. I am a first time gardener (circa Jan - July 2024). You often help me through the tough times. Now seems tough when a mouse and a small black snake visited, everything is overgrown (zinnias, marigolds, basil, citronella, and weeds), nothing (squash and cucumbers) is growing right the 2nd time around, etc. and I do not know how to start up again. I am anxiously awaiting the okra to flower. I get excited when I see small things like my smallest yellow rose bush is showing blooms for the third time since I planted them in February. I saw a bee come to pollinate the pumpkin I planted in a pot for my grandson and this morning and that made me happy enough to get on with my day. I know I want to continue gardening, it just is tough for me right now with all the pests and decisions to make and money to spend on amendments, etc. Sincerely, Wanda

Ms. Wanda, I try to look at the brighter side when I can. There were a lot of things that went wrong this year, but I give thanks for what went well. I got to see a smile on "Grandpa's" face with the fresh veggies he got this year. I don't buy a lot of amendments late in the year because my energy slows down, too. It may not seem like it, but it does 🙂. Hang in there. Let's start with something very simple for this fall. I'm not sure of where you live, but we are going to plant some lettuce together. Okay? If you're interested, email me. WE CAN DO THIS! Don't give up. We will figure out how to get around the pest and grow a few things.

This was honestly so helpful. with all of a gardening videos out there. It's surprising how few people actually show us them filling a water bucket and showing how much fertilizer they use and then actually, how much water they are using for each plant. Watering is so important and even though people give you instructions. The whole one inch per week that is very confusing, so thanks for sharing this.😊
