What’s your opinion of bike? I pretty much have the same setup as you for my 2020 Offering, aside from my RS shock does not have a megneg can on it. I still need to fine tune it but so far I’m not a fan of it’s climbing but enjoy the poppiness of it on the downs. Still need more ride time on it though.

I’m kinda confused about the water bottle situation. I just un screwed the two plastic plate bolts and attached the cage in those bolt holes. Those bolts are long and it worked. I didn’t bother with the little rubber grommets and adding those nuts underneath because the bolts were too long even when attaching the cage. Am I missing something?

Really like the bike and the changes you did so far! Got an Izzo myself about two months ago and thinking about putting either a 35mm or a 42,5mm stemm on it... Did the 40mm stem is as short as you would go or recommend or would you even go shorter? I am between sizes at 6'1 and sized up to a XL and currently using 800mm (maybe cutting down to 780 in future but not sure about it yet) handlebars with 35mm rise and a 50mm stem.
@lost_in_the_woods

The 40mm feels just about right! I haven't tried anything shorter though, I only went with 40mm because I had this stem laying around. I did do some back to back testing with the 60mm stem and definitely prefer the 40 to the 60.

I've been really enjoying it. Riding the XL is kinda like sizing down for someone my height, so the bike still feels quite playful to me - I find it easy to jump and move it around etc. I have a blast riding it on steeper trails like Deliverance or fast & rough trails like Ned's, but I do find it to be a bit of a handful on flatter/ tighter trails like Upper Oilcan & Mow it Down. It's also really fun on fast flowy trails like Expresso or Ridden Art. Overall, very happy with the bike. Only downside I've found so far is if you have big calves the idler pulley/ chain will make your leg greasy.
@sandbox390
@sandbox390 3 жыл бұрын
@@lost_in_the_woods I’m 6’6. I’m used to having to struggle my XXL bike around the tight corners on the shore. Reach is identical to my current ride but the dreadnought has wayyy longer chain stays. I definitely like the idea of keeping the bike a little playful. Just wish I could demo one!
@lost_in_the_woods
@lost_in_the_woods 3 жыл бұрын
Hah, I bought it on faith too. The long chainstays are really nice for tall people - nice to have the rear of the bike grow in proportion with the front! Feels much more balanced. I did find the stack to be a bit low, right now I'm running it with 10mm of spacers under the stem and a 50mm rise bar.

I find that fox recommended settings are always off. Their recommended settings for my 36 set it up with way too much air pressure and way to much of both high and low speed compression damping
@lost_in_the_woods
@lost_in_the_woods 3 жыл бұрын
I ended up ignoring the suggested 20% sag, which needed 127 psi for me to get. I settled around 121 psi in the fork, ~2-3 clicks less damping on both HSC and LSC and 2-3 clicks faster rebound for LSR, HSR was about the same as recommended. I also removed one of the volume spacers that was in the fork so it only has one in there now.

Pretty sure I saw you at your car on your final day. Shouted something about forbidden as I pedalled by. Looks sweet! Hoping to cop one this Summer when stock is replenished. Have you ridden anything tight and janky on it yet? Curious how It would handle something like Bookwus or Grannies - even executioner. I’m only 5’9” - but I’m leaning towards the Dreadnought over the Druid since I’ll be up the S2S starting this Spring. I feel like a medium DN could be a really cool compromise.

Hah, quite possible! There aren't too many around yet so the odds are pretty good it was me. I haven't ridden Bookwus or Grannies on it yet, but I've done Executioner & Upper Elevator a few times - both of those can get tight. I found the bike did well but I did have to experiment a bit with line choices to make it around a few corners. I did ride Upper Oilcan on it too and didn't find that to be too fun - a bit too slow and pedally, the bike definitely likes to be pointed downhill.

@@skatefarmerftw I do agree that the Druid is the better bike for most riders. I probably would've gone with a Druid but the sizing on them runs so small that it wouldn't really work for me. Coming from a bike that is pretty similar to the Druid (Evil Offering) the Dreadnought is definitely harder to climb on, but the increased descending capabilities make the tradeoff worth it to me.
