I don't think Spiritbox cares about being a festival headliner. They seem to enjoy being somewhere in the middle... or headlining their own tour. But could they? Sure. They're pretty much where Ghost was a few years ago before Mary On A Cross blew up.

Bluesky is for those people who want to live in an echo chamber. It's for the same extreme leftists who wanted X censored like Twitter was so their feelings didn't get hurt. It's basically for the Tumblr crowd, blue hair women and feminized men.

If artists want to stay relevant, make good art and quit alienating half your potential fans by getting involved in divisive rhetoric. That goes for whatever spectrum of whatever subject you want to discuss on socials. Music was so much more enjoyable before social media. You formed opinions on the art, not the artist. You can argue that artists told their stories and feelings through their art, but I've found that art is in the eyes (or ears) of the beholder. It's a shame people have to find a new echo chamber to affirm their beliefs rather than having conversations.

Thes sort of bands want to be counter culture and not just bend to the will of the mainstream. Joing a diffrent platform that hates counter thoughts and freedom of speech and expression wont be a good look for bands that want to seem 'counter culture'

I appreciate what Download is doing. But it's not for me. I think they have been in dire need of modernising for the best part of a decade. And they should have introduced at least 1 new headliner every year. But because they didn't, they are playing catch up now. And they are facing what I see as the complete opposite problem. They have no legacy/ classic download headliners. I think everyone would have been happier if they replaced one of these headliners with say Iron Maiden or AC/DC or Rammstein. Had 1 classic and 2 new. But instead they have cast aside the old and filled with the new. And this is my biggest issue with the direction they are currently going. They made their fame and money off of the old school rock fans , and now they are casting them aside. And I think this is a problem for most things. In a bid to stay relevant, they cast aside the old school fans to cater to new audiences who are only half as interested. I think it's a mistake not booking at least some legacy acts.

I love the idea of a separate Monsters or Rock festival. Even if it's just a one off event to give fans one last chance to see all of these bands before they are gone. And It would be expensive. But if it's all HUGE bands, then it would be worth it. And if it is like Power Trip, then you don't need to have hundreds of bands. I could see a lineup doing something such as Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Judas Priest & Saxon on Friday AC/DC, Aerosmith, Scorpions & Guns 'n' Roses on Saturday And a Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax, BIG 4 special on the Sunday That would be epic. And like I say, to see all of those bands separately, you would be looking at £1000 easily. If you could convince the bands to play for a smaller fee than usual for the sake of the ultimate rock/metal experience. And you can get a venue which can pack in like 100,000 fans or more. Then charge £500 a ticket. It's a lot, but damn it would be worth it for the fans, and it would be the single greatest festival ever that these legends of rock can say they were a part of. It sounds extreme. It is extreme. That's why I think it would work

I think Download did wait a bit too long on replacing the roatating door of headliners tbh. They didn't wait until bands could do it which I think has changed, but more waited until older bands couldn't anymore. BMTH were doing arenas from 2016, and still managed to headline R+L before Download. Also, I think the switch of R+L has something to do with it. There's a lot of bands who previously would've made up an entire R+L lineup that'll now only take up a fraction, so Download has clearly taken some of those bands and that audience with them. I don't think it's such a bad thing personally

Im so happy that I got to see them live in Newark NJ 2024. My favorite Rock band. We flew all the way from Puerto Rico just to see them play. Awesome band!💪👍🤘

There’s 25 bands on the lineup that I want to see including all 3 headliners. You’re spot on with your views! Demographic has changed to the younger 20-40 range as they know were the people who will be going to the festival for the next 20 years rather than those in their 50’s who may go for a few more years or will just go for a day now. I do agree though they should have one day reserved to legacy bands to pay homage to the older generation who carried the flag for many years and allow them to get day tickets. Download should be inclusive of all people and walks of life that’s what the festival is all about. Whilst I’m happy they are catering to my generation more now I certainly don’t want to feel like the older generation are being pushed out.
