Would sticking one of these in a greenhouse/sunlight house directly in the sunlight help with efficiency and bringing the heat level up more? Sorry if that's a stupid question.

Can you list / give link to the winterization closing kit and type of anti freeze (for salt pool). Then also if there are 2 skimmers (20x40 pool) are you doing a full gallon for each skimmer? Also when you cap all the returns and have everything else closed and you still have air running checking for bubbles ... is that dangerous to build that air pressure in the pipes?

Great video, I’ve been searching for hours and yours is the best, but the others did help bring me from clueless to confused. My system is very similar, so on top of well done video, works great for me. Though I look forward to updating y’all when I actually try it.

I still watch this video every year for a refresher!! I started using one way valve plugs from Aqua Group for my returns. It is way easier than trying to screw those standard plugs in with the pressure from a Cyclone blower. Otherwise, I end up soaking wet and freezing cold because I don't close mine until the water is 60 degrees. Also, the Gizmo doesn't seem sturdy once screwed into my skimmer, so I use a 2" x 20" piece of schedule 88 with a cap and just stuff the skimmer box and mouth full of noodles for expansion. It works great and I don't have to worry about that Gizmo getting pushed out of place by ice.

With this product there is an additional and MAJOR consideration to make when purchasing the CYCLONE. Understand that the CYCLONE will filter OUT dirt very nicely but it will also filter out mostly ALL slow dissolving pool products and of course any diatomaceous earth (DE) you put in the pool skimmer for the DE filter system grids. But any seasoned pool owner/maintainer knows adding DE and/or pool water maintenance products through the skimmer is common throughout the year and unless you can "bypass" or remove the CYCLONE the result will end up in the bottom of the CYCLONE. (which looks like the situation in this video) I have and love the CYCLONE but with a DE pool it was obvious for the sake of ease and to reduce wear and tear on couplings I purchased and installed the CYCLONE "bypass" and am glad I did. I simply turn the bypass valve, add my pool products as directed through the skimmer wait a few minutes and then return the bypass valve to the "filter" position. I bought my kit from DISCOUNT SALT POOLS for $84.99. (I don't work for or know who Discount Salt pools are I just liked the price) I am on month 6 after cleaning and install and my bypass and my DE pressure gauge has increased ONLY 5 PSI. I would have cleaned it at least three times by now this year.

Yes the heatpump will struggle in cold weather, but it will still pull heat out of the air temp.especially if it's a high sear rating.

What happens of you don’t add water but just fill the cell with just acid?

You risk killing your salt cell. Full strength acid is too much.
@agtronic
@agtronic 4 ай бұрын
Using muriatic acid at full strength (20° Bé) for cleaning salt cells can be detrimental because it can accelerate the wear of the titanium plates and their catalytic layers of ruthenium or iridium, which are crucial for efficient electrolysis. Even when diluted properly, leaving the solution in the cell for too long can stress these components unnecessarily, and potentially even damage them. This is why the in the video he stops the cleaning process as soon as the gassing subsides. 👍

Your pool pump inlet should be further from the diverter. Inlet length is supposed to be AT LEAST 5x longer than the di of the pipe.

If the purpose is to help homeowners take care of their own stuff, it's totally irresponsible to put a video up like this, which implies there's no danger at all when using muriatic acid. No gloves, no eye protection. Average person wouldn't assume there was a difference in adding water to acid instead of acid to water. I rarely comment on videos but this should be taken down.

The scaling is normal calcium buildup, it leaches out from the pool plaster and sticks to the metal plates during electrolysis. More so in new pools.... like every 3 months or so.

Why is there a tee fitting below the salt cell? Path of least resistance would be straight thru the tee fitting to the outlet side of the salt cell, instead of sending full flow thru the salt cell. Can see the tee fitting I am referring to at 2:20. I Also don’t see a tee fitting with a sacrificial anode and bonding wire? Why wouldn’t you recommend a sacrificial anode on a salt pool?? I also don’t see a bypass to isolate the heater. Bypass is useful to isolate the heater from pump flow while getting the water chemistry correct. Pipe and valving work indeed looks neat and clean on this setup. Might work, but I don’t agree with the title of this video.

This setup is utterly terrible, and it's concerning you're passing this off as a "proper" setup. Your inlet and outlet pipe length for your pump is too short. You used way more 90s than you needed to. Hell, you only needed 1 to go from your pump to your filter had you moved your pump back and filter forward. You did not use high-temp unions, and it looks like you siliconed those male adapters in, which isn't even allowed and do not last due to the silicone delaminating over time. Those pentair diverter valves are inferior to jandy valves due to them having worse tolerances and being made out of pvc and not cpvc which is what you want to be using if the pool is heated; especially gas heaters. The excessive use of unions and 90s are just going to be leaking nightmares for the customer in the future since they're just going to be more points of failure and just screams that you're not confident in your glue joints which is why you need to prepare for making it easier for you in the future to replace that crap. And if we really want to get into the weeds of making the system as efficient as possible and money isn't a factor, then let's not forget about the 1 1/2 plumbing and not a single sweep in that entire setup. And I really would like to know the specs on that pump and filter and maybe that can start cluing us in on why that pump is starving for water while you're filming and bragging about how good the plumbing is.....
