This is very helpful and about the only video out there on how to do this.

1. "American Trade Master" as the name, is a joke after you read this. 2. Zero safety precautions. 3. Just hack/have it.

Worst sawzall you get in their multi tool deal set. Don’t even know why they make it. Just get a regular sawzall and you won’t be struggling with 18gauge nails 😂

I should've watched this before starting my removal. I'm not putting a door back up, can I use expanding foam in the frame before taping, mudding, primer & paint?

Use painters tape to reduce chipping and splintering when cutting cabinet doors. Or anything that needs to have a clean cut.

Great job preserving the original and making it work. I am wanting to update my cabinets as well. Can you upgrade to soft close hinges to doors with the inset hinges or is it best to just get new doors and keep the cabinet boxes?

Not bad Joseph, -But please, cut down on the ums and awes a bit. ( shortens up the vid for us) -No need to saw back and forth when using your Sawzall. It does that for ya Joe. 😉 oh yea, get a new metal cutting blade Joe. - No need to see every nail banged in or make us wait while you do both sides. -Safety glasses are not only cool, but they're smart to use. Thank Joe. - -

Do you need a sawzall, or can you just pry out the frame?

I do like your videos, however maybe a good idea to protect yourself with mask, eyewear and protect the customer's floor as well. Mold could be present, in all that flying off wood. Just my suggestion. Thanks for videos.

Check for mold while you're at it. Happened to me and the mold made me extremely sick for many months. Had to get detoxed. Hopefully you have better result.

I have the same cabinets. I wish you had spent a little time on showing more detail as to how you adjust those hinges and fit the door properly. That's a real pain. I may just bite the bullet and go to the expense of getting those hidden hinges for doors with the 3/8" lip like I have.

I'm here for the same reason! Now I'm wondering if you MUST install a new door or if you can just spackle and paint the walls. We sometimes have a wheelchair user in the house and we don't need a door as much as we need the extra inches from removing the jamb! But the internet doesn't seem to approve of my plans, the instructions I get are always for replacement never just removal.

I redid cabinets like these in my apartment. I’m having a problem with them not quite closing since I replaced the hinges so I have to take in the inset as well. I’ve been trying to figure out the way to do so. I thought about a router but no tool library rents them out.

I'm no door installation expert but I think a cut off wheel on a grinder or a pneumatic one would work better than that sawzall

Is there are a non-destructive way of doing this? I have a 100 year old home that I'm trying to restore while keeping as much of the original materials intact as I can. One of its problems is that there's not a single door in the entire house which is still square. I've already shimmed/bent the hinges back into place but - in many cases - the whole frame has gotten out of alignment.
