The 4th gen, is when they peaked, everything after started going down in quality. They're 2022 2500s are all being recalled for bad transmissions out of the factory. 4th gen is king, just don't idle the hemis for long periods, it wears out the cam. And another big issue is exhaust manifold bolts needing replaced, but you don't have to replace those unless you want. Stops after the truck warms up and the metal expands anyways. Only other common issue is the 3rd brake light leaking, which is a cheap fix, just get some gasket sealant and throw it on your light gasket after buying a new one to put on.

Serious question for anyone...I have a 2012 dodge ram Laramie 4x4 1500. 68k miles on it. I would like to put a road armor winch bumper and winch on it for hunting purposes got a 6in rough country lift on it. Would that bumper be a good investment

I am currently purchasing a roll off with a 20yd container to start junk removal in texas so that I can scale later to dumpster rentals. I know it might be dumb to go out and purchase a lot of equipment early on without a customer base. Do you think that my setup would be too much to start out with in junk removal, or do you think I should start out with something smaller? I know there are a lot of variables within that question, just trying to get some perspective from someone who has been doing this for a while.

Well let me be completely transparent. I’m not doing junk removal any more, and haven’t been for awhile. I completed my bachelors degree back in May of 2020, and decided to pursue a career as a staff accountant. Now in my opinion, I think you should avoid making a lot of big purchases in the beginning. I think everyone, regardless of the industry, wants to scale quickly in hopes of receiving a great ROI. I would advice that you take it slow and let your business scale naturally. Focus on growing that customer base, refining your business, and get that word of mouth machine rolling. I think you will do very well in the Texas market. Pace yourself and keep grinding! P.s. - Lol and my advice as an accountant is.. please keep your accounting in check. You can literally learn just about anything on KZbin if you need help 😋

I recommend using a dura lube with every oil change or at least every other. My 05 4.7L just passed 250,000 and I’ve used dura lube since I bough with 70,000 on it. I will always use dura-lube in my dodge engines 👍🏽

$400? I got one new for $75. Good thing you didn't buy that thing. I'd say it depends where you live as to if you can quickly make it full time or not. I know 3 guys that started a hauling business and within 60 days their schedules were full. One guy bought a trailer about 60 days ago and has already bought 2 more trailers for a total of 3. He has 2 16' and 1 20'. But I'd be forced to agree with you to not go full time at first because most people will not put 100% effort 7 days a week 24 hours a day until it takes off. These guys I talk about did just that. Hopefully your business is thriving!

I have a 2014 Sport Crew Cab that I bought new. Just turned 145k. No tick, and zero issues save for a small trans ‘jerk’ on acceleration that I inherited after servicing the trans. I’m even still on the original brake pads. I run full syn with a 7500-mile oil change interval since new. Planning on running it to 200k and seeing what I have. If the body is still rust-free at that point I’ll probably continue on.

We inherited a mint condition 2012 Ram 5.7. The truck has 137,000 miles. I’m familiar with the Hemi tick issues, and were debating on if we should keep the truck or not. The truck drives great, is comfortable and has plenty of power. We really like it but the potential for huge repair bills is a concern.

Try switching to a higher octane fuel, sometimes the tick can be caused by that and 89+ is acually recommended on the hemi.

@@stuartstuart866 Don’t know how true it is but I just recently bought a 2010 with the 5.7 and it had no tick at all when I bought it, the old owner said to use 89 octane or higher only. I didn’t listen and put in 87 a few days ago and it has started to tick. Im going to try switching back and see how it goes.

My 2012 has 181,000. I had to replace the camshaft about 5,000 miles ago. Purchased the parts and did it all myself. I have also replaced the water pump and radiator. I bought mine with 106,000 on it and use it for work and household stuff. I love my truck! Love the ride, comfort, and pretty much everything else. My one real complaint has to do with the sun visor. It just won't stay in its clip and I have to keep pushing it back in. Keep up the good work.

To all of the comments here: keep your lubricants changed. Trans is very important just like the oil. Diff, run valvoline 75/140 . Brake fluid, power steering, and coolant. If you like your truck treat it like you do.
