I almost bailed on a trip to Baxter next week because I only have 48 hours to see it. You guys just changed my mind!

That's my favorite place to hike...I've done alot of those peaks you did. 1 at a time !! What you guys did here was a tremendous feat. Even though those mountains are not 4,000 footers..its still typical east coast mountain hiking and .alot of those trails are no joke and will kick your butt...rocks and roots and steep! Well done fellas. You guys are beasts!! Hats off to you ! Another great video.

Biking to the top of Cadillac is pretty cool, my brakes did not appreciate the descent! I have yet to hike it though, it always so busy during the nice seasons that I don’t feel like fighting the crowds. I ended up doing my bike runs in November, which was pretty icy! Looks like you guys had the right idea by going really early!

Nothing compares to a descent down Cadillac by bike. We both wished were on bikes for a quick descent when we were up there on this mission.

Which tires width you're using?
@chrisandchris17 күн бұрын
Pretty sure we were all on 47mm. If you’re confident in your bike handling, a 40mm tire would do just fine…but 47 is nice for the KWW portion of the ride, which at times isn’t the smoothest of gravel.

Cool loop I've heard a lot about. I've read a few times that bushwhacking may be necessary - would you substitute any portions of your ride if you were tick and bushwhacking averse?
@chrisandchris28 күн бұрын
We're not aware of any bushwhacking via our version of the route, so you're good there. There is a small section that takes an old road that turns to single track for a couple miles but it's by no means offroading. Ticks, not sure what to say there - you'll have the same issue anywhere in New England...or anywhere in the country. Just avoid tall grass and if you do need to pass through some for nature breaks, we recommend a few tick checks for peace of mind. We hate ticks just as much as the next person, but we refuse to let them kill our dreams.

Where did you rent the bikes? How much per day? And how did you reach the starting point?
@chrisandchrisАй бұрын
We've put the bike rental company in the video description. Be sure to check them out, Moab Bikepacking is great. We camped near the route, so we started from camp and rode back to our campsite since it's a loop. Check out the route on bikepacking.com and you'll find there are plenty of spots to start from.

My first watch of one of your videos. I grew up in NH and Maine and and know that area like the back of my hand. Fifty + summits on Katahdin every month of the year. Your video is excellent. My only complaint that 15 minutes is a rather short video for such an amazing bikepacking trip. Kudos for hiking up Doubletop Mtn; that is a great hike in BSP. I will like and subscribe. Good video!

Cheers Mike, thanks for the note! We agree on length. To combat this we'll make more videos in the area when we get a chance :)

Looks like you had a blast. My verdict on this is either SAG wagon 3 to 4 nights to do all the side stuff and enjoy the people you are with with some tequila shots or do it in one day. I've done both for a total of 7 times. I have considered the one night bike packing but all that extra stuff just kills the fun for me making two hard days with water insecurity.
@chrisandchris2 ай бұрын
We'd agree, a longer trip would be a lot of fun. Fortunately for us it was cold enough in February we were able to carry all the water we needed for two days one night, otherwise we would've opted for a one day mission or a longer, supported mission. We're glad it worked out the way it did, since we had to drive to Grand Canyon right after this for a Rim 2 Rim 2 :)

Where did u rent bikes? Also-can u share details on gear/clothes (what worked, what didn’t)…any lessons learned
@chrisandchris2 ай бұрын
We put the bike rental company in the video description in case anyone wants to check them out. In terms of gear/clothes, the answer is largely determined by the time of year you go. Any kind of weather is possible in the canyon, so best to prepare by checking the weather forecast a week out and making decisions there. Overall, we would suggest prioritizing carrying excess water, basic survival supplies, and bike repair kits, above all. In terms of bike gear, we did a section on our bike choices in the video and would defer anyone to that if curious about bike stuff. There's no wrong answer, but hardtail mtb setups are probably the most enjoyable ride.

What’s the point of the cross country skis? Seems like a waste of weight bringing 2 pairs of boots and skis
@chrisandchris3 ай бұрын
They’re much comfier and lighter on the feet and definitely faster. Saves the feet from slamming around in big ski boots on flat ground for a few hours. It’s a 5mile mostly flat ski to the start of the actual mountain so we prefer to save our feet for the good stuff
