Because "someone" was using the holey bowl to look at the Sun and not using it as a pinhole projector, which is the intended purpose.

One hole is good enough. The smaller, the better. Edit: OK, some commenters are either trolling or genuinely don't understand how to use this. To be clear, *DO NOT USE THIS TO LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE SUN!* Only use ISO-certified eclipse glasses or Shade 14 welder's glass to look directly at the Sun. The holey bowl he's making here is a pinhole projector. You hold it so that the Sun shines *through* it and makes an image on a surface (canvas). You look at the *canvas,* not through the holes. Each hole is an aperture (opening) that lets light through in one direction, resulting in an upside-down image of the light source. The smaller the hole, the sharper the image, but if the hole is too small, it doesn't let enough light through. This comes from a photographic principle called a camera obscura. I encourage everyone to look it up when they get home.
