I think this is a very nice list, I just would have included obsession with it's 2 expansions, upstairs & downstairs and Wessex, cuz once you add those in, boy oh boy, the game changes completely in the sense that is way more fun, you have flexibility to do what you need, you still are constrained by the lack of available service that is yet to become available in 1 or 2 more turns, BUT, thanks to the new workers, you have new avenues to pivot and improvise, LOVE IT! It's like a super distilled Lacerda game, a true masterpiece 👌

Was that your first time? I remember our first sessions took 6 hours too without us beeing able to make it 8 rounds. Recently it hit our table again since almost a year. Most rules we were able to remember and we dit manage to play it within 4 hours and we take a break for the smokers in our group every hour to 1,5 hours. So without smoking 3 hours is a posibility.

@@CharlesHepburn2 no we have a couple of players that have a.p. but they managed to controle it. Once you're spread out its a double edged sword. You dont have many discs to use for actions thus turns go faster. But because of the fewer disks the dicisions take longer. First rounds are just explore and exploit. Combat is avoided and only comes into play arround turn 3/4/5

@Camj41Ай бұрын
I like how other commenters mention waiting for a 2.0 campaign. I forget how often that happens for big campaign games. I want to back it but have a surplus of campaign games to play. Most recently, Tidal Blades 2. And Arydia had an update today saying games are about to be on boats! Arydia has a similar ttrpg feel with deeper combat in my opinion. I’m still on the fence knowing LoE won’t fulfill for quite some time. Most likely sometime in 2026. That will give me plenty of time to play my games.
@1D6nlАй бұрын

I'm strictly a solo player and I'm really wondering how this plays solo?
@1D6nlАй бұрын
I think it’s quite manageable-probably better than ISS Vanguard, for instance. There are fewer moving parts and components, but without sacrificing too much of the actual gameplay. That said, if you’re really into solo player games, have you checked out Storyfold yet? It doesn’t compare to LoE, but it’s such a charming (and fully dedicated solo player) game! It’s on Kickstarter right now, in case you’re interested.
@joefell5311Ай бұрын
@@1D6nl I literally just acquired a Kickstarter copy of ISS Vanguard and am just getting into the rules. I keep hearing Storyfold is good but the theme isn't in my wheelhouse. Although typically ISS Vanguard doesn't fit my tastes either since I'm pretty much high fantasy and not much else. But I kept hearing how good it was so I gave it a shot after finding an amazing deal I pretty much would probably never going see again. Lands of Evershade really has my interest if its true that its a good combination of TTRPG and board gaming. I'm always on the look out for a marriage of the two to satisfy my thirst.

The rulebook and scenarios aren’t even finished yet. You all know that, right? Also - Dear reader: This isn’t “it.” This isn’t “the one.” No game is. There is no FOMO. Someone will always sell it at a reasonable price when it’s out, I guarantee you. Finish what you have or look for finished games first and foremost instead of speedrunning a shelf of shame.
@McAllisterSellsFloridaАй бұрын
The FOMO is hitting me hard with this one, but I already have several campaign games that I haven’t even started yet right now I’m in the middle of Forge, which is pretty awesome. I think my wife will kill me if I spend 400 bucks on a new game when I have ones unopened

@shocknaweАй бұрын
“Ones” plural? Hey, mate. I really hope you’r doing well. I totally understand FOMO, etc, but try to keep in mind what is happening here. You can’t even buy the game right now. You are put in a token to maybe get it in 2027. I know it’s easy to fall into consumerist hole, but keep in mind two things: 1 - You can ALWAYS get it later and it won’t be that more expensive for the crowdfunding stuff, I guarantee you. There is NO real FOMO in physical goods. Someone will always re-sell it at some point. 2 - No matter how many games you get, the hole you feel inside will never be filled. This one isn’t “it.” This one isn’t “the one.” No game is or will ever be. Play what you have and keep them novel in your head. Try to get excited about experiencing the ones on your shelf. Why would you buy another cake if haven’t even fished or tried the oneS you have? Even more if we’re talking about a cake that won’t spoil.
@shocknaweАй бұрын
1 - FOMO in physical games isn’t real. It’s an illusion. Someone will always re-sell it at some point. 2 - No matter how many games you get, the hole you feel inside will never be filled. This one isn’t “it.” This one isn’t “the one.” No game is or will ever be. Play what tou have. Be done with them first, THEN move on. Otherwise, will just have a mountain of expensive “what ifs” and promises that will only make you and your wife feel bad about. Use this money for something you’re gonna use today, not “maybe in the future if I feel like it and if Another game doesn’t come up first and if I can even remember/see it underneath all the others I already have.”

I’m unsure about the whole Choose Your Own Adventure style of play. It just doesn’t grab me to flip around in a book all the time. Just too much reading (or listening to app), compared to other games that are more dynamic.
@1D6nlАй бұрын
I had a blast playing Tainted Grail. It struck just the right balance between storytelling, exploration, and gameplay. ISS Vanguard, on the other hand, leans a bit too heavily on the storytelling for my taste. It feels more like a constant interruption rather than a complementary part of the game. I can’t say for sure, but it seems like LoE is a bit more similar to Tainted Grail."

I have played a lot of Andor, only the boardgame version though. I don't understand why you wouldn't be able to win the game within 20 tries unless you overlooked something. I know in Legend 2 (I think) there is an alternative route which you can take to bring the parchment to the tree of songs. The app doesn't look that interesting tbh. I prefer the boardgame itself. Greets from NL 😉👍🏽

I backed this game! This game seems to be straight up my alley. I like the character building and story driven games. Plus the art is just amazing. I see Lands of Evershade as a potential to play solo (after Etherfields) or with my wife. Or even with my kid when she gets older. I don't mind if the combat mechanics are on the simple side immersion in a story is just lovely. Greetings from NL 😉👍🏽

Uff...Difficult video, not to mention the clickbait title. There are some questionable statements about the design of Bad Karmas in the video, so I feel compelled to clarify things. 2:13 - “Bad Karmas brings nothing new to the boss battler genre.” This is factually incorrect. Bad Karmas offers the best stage-boss combination in the genre to date. Neither KDM, ATO, Oathsworn or other titles build the stages in such a way that the boss has real exploration mechanics and the stage feels like it was built for the boss. Be it Gemini with his portals, Virgo with her web of spikes, Leo in the desert where he jumps on car wrecks etc. (where is Dante stronger here?) or Sagittarius climbing along the outside of a burning building...where do the other boss battlers offer that? That's right. Nowhere. Bad Karmas also offers levelable hand cards that only level up through the actions of the heroes themselves. No other boss battler offers this. The boss's stances force cooperative play, because sides that are attacked go out again and effects like “Vulnerable” extend team-friendly effects. In addition to campaign play, there are challenges, one-shots and the editor, with which you can create challenges for each other. Here you really get the feeling that you've never played the final game. The statement above is simply not tenable. 4:12 - Once all the players have acted, the monster activates. Incorrect. The boss activates after each turn. It also happens regularly that the boss occupies additional initiative slots at the beginning. Again, it is questionable whether the final game was played at all after such a statement. In addition, the boss reacts stage-related. Taurus defends his cave and reacts contextually when you move into his cave. How you can then ask at 5:28 whether it's all just a gimmick, then you really have to ask yourself whether anyone has ever played the game themselves or just watched videos. 5:36 - Again the accusation of innovation - see above. Not tenable. 5:51 - Dante is praised for adding height levels. That's Dante's strength? Bad Karmas has that too. Only Bad Karmas has individual terrain for every single boss. Nothing is recycled. Each stage comes with its own terrain, which in turn interacts with the stage and boss in a completely unique way. All other boss battles don't have this - not even Townsfolk Tussle, which uses its terrain very well. 6:10 - The phrase again - no standout elements? Yes - see above. And that's not even all of them. Here you also realize that only pictures are used to judge the profile of the bosses. Please play the game and then tell the audience that the bosses have no profile… 6:50 - The campaign mode is not even mentioned. Once again I have to ask: Have you really played the game? I'll have to ask again. Doesn't seem like it. 8:11 - This is really nonsense. Where is the game just a tech demo? As stated above, the game has numerous modes to offer, numerous tactical options, cooperative play like few boss battlers ever, intelligently built bosses and their stages...

Thanks for commenting on our video. Despite your critique, we really appreciate that you took the time to react in such a detailed way. Let us clarify a few things here. First of all we only make videos on games we think are worth talking about. We consider The Bad Karmas to be such a (good) game. Secondly we try to release the video as soon as we reviewed the game/campaign. At 1D6 we are customers just like you, with no prior knowledge of the game or any review copies to play through. Our judgement on the Bad Karmas is based on our research and all the video content we've seen. It is possible for us to make mistakes, miss details or misjudge certain mechanics and their impact on a game. In the case of The Bad Karmas we don't think we misjudged the game, but looking at all the effort you put in writing your comment, we don't think we're gonna change your mind. Yes the title is clickbaity. Heck this is KZbin. But there is some truth to our thumb: "The Curse of Teburu". The lack of games worries us. You must agree on that at least 😉

Before the Gamefound campaign, I had not played Puerto Rico but was always interested in it because it is obviously still a really good game (and I backed the CoB deluxe edition). After the launch, I looked at the cost versus value and decided to buy the existing 1897 edition for ~$38 USD and played my first game this past weekend. The campaign’s retail edition costs at least double what I just paid (when shipping is factored), and so for me the upgrades/improvements in that AW version fail to justify the extra cost.
